I have to move my whole domain to another server of another company, so, I just don't want to download my whole website (~200 MB) and thousands of little files, isn't there another possibility ? I've heard something about "flashing" or similar ? Does anyone know ?

thanks in advance

Grr! mad I heard of this program that would do something like that, but for the life of me I can't remember what it's called! Sorry... shocked

Essentially, you gave it an address, and it downloaded the entire site for you, then you could upload it somewhere else easily. It takes awhile, depending on your connection speed, but it's probably worth it. You may try searching Download.com or Winfiles.com for it...

Sorry I can't be of more help.

MM, where should I insert this ? I have no idea of what you just wrote, I think it zips the content of my webpage so I can unzip it to another server, or ?
confused

You need telnet/shell access on a unix server, then run the command MM said in your webroot directory.

Helpful answer: Try looking for a program called "fxp" - it transfers from one FTP site to another.

Muc: what kind of servers are the computers you're transferring from and to? If the receiving one is unix, things get a whole lot easier with the wget command.

the receiving one is Suse Linux 7.0, the sending one is unix too.

To both of them I have no telnet/shell access frown

the sending one doesn' allow unix commands nor flash fxp. damn, what could I do ?
Do I have to download everything and then re-upload to the other server ?

Drat, unless you can get someone nice at both server ends to help you, you might be stuck with the download-n-reupload option. frown
