i think what muc wants to know, is the traffic in GB that your boards produce.
this would be very interessting for me, too. i'm just searching for a good webspace-place for my ubb and I have no idear how much traffic I will need. there are about 50 visitors a day and maybe 25 posts (a day). but gorwing. so, how much traffic do you think does this board produces?
what about "large" boards? how much is the traffic for ubbdev e.g.??

thanks in advance

hola Johnny... dat's lots of GB's eek

You may wanna check out the cgi_buffer modification in the 6.1 beta forum, it'll speed up your forum and reduce the bandwidth tremendously... smile
Woah, you get alot of hits on your forum Jonny. eek Nice site too. wink
i'm dying for 6.1 to get out of beta

i hate having to rehack again and again, and with that much traffic people **** when I have to take the board down

then I get 4000 questions of "where is my avatar?"

I almost changed to Vbullettin, for the speed

Current search is SLOW and somethimes times out
I guess that speed-up only works on 6.1 and not 6.04f

should work on either

Yep I have a very similar sized forum to Jonny and it eats 30-40GB's per month, which is madness and costs ££££££££.

Thankfully my server pings to 30ms in the UK and so it seems fast, but install UBB6 on a server that's average - good speed and not ULTRA FAST to Excellent and it's like a dog.

That goes for the last public v6.1 beta as well, it can't handle things once you hit 120+ forums ish and 3,000 to 4,000 members.

I love the idea of the compression system, although nobody has provided enough examples or explanation to test it on individual servers or explain how to get the library in on a host that's unresponsive. For some reason people assume you have ADMIN access to the root server itself, which I've never seen in my life.

Still that's life, just don't like paying £1,000 extra per year for UBB6's flaws. As soon as InfoPop realise that people use their forums for bigger sites then things should improve, I'm talking about ones far in excess of UBBDev and InfoPop itself.

Why not change forum software you ask? Well because UBB6 has more hack support and the rest aren't hackable enough, or show you what happens when there's TOO MANY FEATURES installed (yuk!). vB is too complex if you want new users to understand it, although its bandwidth saving is exceptional.
