Quick question--since it's only a couple files that need to be modified, can a person use Beyond Compare to make the changes--so that hacked parts remain? (does that make sense? )

Say I'm not wanting to upgrade for a while because I don't know how to use Beyond Compare and have to re-install every single hack all over again.. Would it be worth upgrading from 6.2.0 to 6.2.1.2 now, or wait for 6.3.0, or wait even further for 6.3.1?

If you don't want to use a beta version, upgrade to 6.2.1.2. If you do, you should think if you can wait for 'very soon now' to get 6.3.0 beta.

its up to you. You can wait for 6.3 which will have more features, such as avatars and custom user levels, which may require less hacking, but may have less finished mods available or a version that already supports the hacks you want installed.
You need to look at what modifications are important for you, and whether or not they will be supported when 6.3 is released.
Personally, I still have 6.2.1 installed, and will test 6.3 when it is released, and that is for a board that isnt really modified.
