When we launched the new website, we officially retired the good old Scriptkeeper.com server. That server powered infopop.com, the community forums, and everything else Infopop for years.
We convinced the hosting company to ship the machine to us, as it's an important part of Infopop history.
We knew it was a little, old Sun box.
We were not expecting what it was.
It's a
workstation!
It's a Sun SparcStation 20, built in Feb 1995... Dual SuperSPARC chips running at either 40 or 50 MHz, 256 MB of memory (in SIMM form), and two 4.5 gig SCSI drives.
It's no bloody wonder that UBB6 ran like hell there! We're talking about the equivelent power of a single Pentium at 200 MHz.... Less power than a
RaQ!!
