UBB.Developers Forums Community Development Design, Style and Graphics Windows XP graphic set

Here is the first installment of my Windows XP graphics set. These are mostly taken straight from regular Windows XP icons and/or buttons. I removed most of the anti-aliasing, so they *should* look at least decent on most background colors.

More will be coming when I can get better screenshots, but these will suffice for now. I plan to have most of the primary posting icons taken care of, as well as post/reply buttons, and maybe some others that I think of.

To make some of them work, you'll have to install the Cosmetic Links hack or change a bunch of the wordlets to reference images instead of text.

How do I chnage the normal text to the icons?

Go into ubb_lib.cgi, find where it builds that line, and add image tags in there instead of text.

Heh, my bad.

Actually, I just thought of something else that may work just as well. Go into your control panel, and open the Primary Wordlets panel.

Then find the following wordlets and change them to image tags ()...

profile_link
search_link
faq_link
forum_home_link

I would make more, but I'm unfortunately unable to use Windows XP any longer. It became apparent a little while after I posted those, that it absolutely hated my network card. And since I need a network card to have internet, and since I'm addicted to internet like a drug, I had to go back to Win2000. When I get around to replaceing my NIC with a XP-compatible, I'll post some more.

Damn, XP wont let you dual boot with Win 2K. Anyway they look awsome!

Where exactly can I find these lines in ubb_lib.cgi (line) and are they all together or scattered? Thanks!

the second method that skorp gave is a little bit easier to do. you should try that one instead.

Yeah but it adds square link boxs around the images, any way to get rid of that?

add to the code: border="0"

that will make the border dissapear.

Ok, well, I made some up then...They have my background color on them, but if you need a specific color, let me know the RGB and I'll edit them around a wee-bit...

just in case skorpion won't find his backup on his hd, has anybody downloaded them before from his old server and is willing to send them to me via email ? I'll put them up again on my own server, if you don't mind skorpion.

Yeah, the links are still broken... Presumably the images just disappeared again, or they were accidentally deleted, or renamed, or something like that... Anyway, if you could get them to work again Jamin, I'd really appreciate it... These buttons would look perfect with my Win XP theme

Look around for sub MainButtonOptions in public_common.pl (if you have 6.3 onwards). It was changed recently.

I believe THESE are the original images Jamin posted. I've zipped them up. HTH's
