There is nothing more depressing looking that a board that has 50 forums and a dozen posts. Can you say...ghost town.

However, many admins when they set up their board feel compelled to launch with a forum for every topic they can think of.

When a new visitor stops by your forum, they'll take a look around and say...hmmm, not much happening here.

The better way to do it is to start small, and add forums as demand grows. This way the forums seem a bit more active.

If you want to set up the board, you can certainly create your 20 different forums, just keep 15 of them turned off on your cp. As you grow, turn on some of the others.

Now then, considering your forums....

  • How many forums do you have?
  • How many members do you have?
  • How many posts do you have?
  • How many posts in your most active fourm?
  • How many posts in your least active forum?

LK, that is pretty good considering your forum is essentially a test forum for all your l33t hacks!

Hah, you've got to be kidding zach!

You guys had a strong existing community prior to your site's redesign.

Plus you've got that spiffy combo chain letter/spam contest wink

In what ways did you guys connect with your old members during and after your down time?

In addition, the board has been up for three years now, which is the reason for the number of posts...

:D laugh Ok, you got me, we did have a following before the site went down. Our server deleted all our posts and members, so really those posts and members are from the past 12 days, but of course we had help since we alredy had over 200 members before we went down. To keep everyone connected, most of the members are really good friends and all post at the MCA records message board, so everyone pretty much kept in touch.
