Posted this in the 6.0x suggestion forum but figured everyone is over here now and I too will upgrade to 6.1 when it is out of beta.

For situations where a specific forum is used essentially as a database, it would be great to be able to override the users' preference and display all "topics" in that particular forum. Ideally this would be an option in the forum preferences in the control panel, something like a checkbox to override user preference and then the same dropdown box to set the displayed time frame for that particular forum. Waddaya think? Does this mod exist already or anyone know how to do this?

If you link to the forum externally (via a nav menu or something), you can add &DaysPrune=1000&SUBMIT=Go to the end of the address and it will automatically filter it by a thousand days, which is almost three years. That would essentially be showing all topics. That's the way UBBDev uses on our Database.

If you're just using the normal forum row on forum_summary to get to it, though, I'm not sure how that would work...

Yeah I'd like it to work there too. Thanks for the suggestion for links, maybe I can hard code that in for that particular forum link (somehow).

We've done this within the actual files to remove the user's choice when it comes to "days pruned" for our database.

I don't remember where I made the changes, but will be updating it for 6.1.0 as soon as it's released... remind me then and I'll pull the info out.

FWIW, I just found out that sorting a forum alphabetically defaults to "show all topics". Learned this on infopop's support forum (submitted this is a suggestion for sorting by date as well).
