I'd like to pose the question, who has created some nice looking threads? I'm working on some threads that will really drive a big part of my web site "How to do your own bike trip" and I'm using the UBBCode some but I'm thinking maybe some of y'all have done a much better job. Anyone got some threads they are really proud of? Up to now the best ones I have seen are on this sites entrance page :brown-noser-graemlin:

What do you mean by nice looking.. by color scheme, custom templates or layouts?

The [ list ] ubb code will go a long way. When I announce features and such I use the UBB Code for lists - as it bullet points all the items and such.

  • How to Bike Trip
  • Get a bike.
  • Make sure you know how to ride
  • Don't fall off
  • Pedal your butt off
  • Go somewhere cool
  • Visit www.biketrip.com

What I typed to do that was this:

Code
<br />
  • <br />How to Bike Trip<br />
  • Get a bike. <br />
  • Make sure you know how to ride <br />
  • Don't fall off <br />
  • Pedal your butt off <br />
  • Go somewhere cool <br />
  • Visit www.biketrip.com <br />

Oh man, slap me silly. When you said "neat threads" I was assuming just neat UBB.threads layouts and styles

I see what you mean now.

Like josh said, make good use of lists (bullets), bold and [:"brown"]color [/] . Also, if you are the only one able to post/reply in a particular forum/thread, you may want to consider enabling HTML. Then you can do nearly anything you want as far as style is concerned

And an Admin or moderator can change the pull down when posting to use HTML if they want (even if it's off in the forum). Which is handy... you can do more tricks in HTML.

Hey thanks, I have used all of those UBBCode features and I'm sure it will be good enough. I tried using straight html and kept getting errors to the effect I was missing something, even if I used everything from the <HTML> and on. I was hoping someone might have something like that, showing some great use of straight html.

I use HTML in my first post of this thread: http://www.drumlines.org/threads/showflat.php?Number=40947

I use tables to layout the list of members.

Thanks Josh, is there any chance I can see just the html used in the thread post? Perhaps I could dig it out of the source code but I aint all that smart

Well, you can't have any line breaks within the HTML or it won't display correctly. Here it is formatted with line-breaks:

Code
<br />Here is our current list of participants with their current (as of last edit time) beans and points. Members are ordered by point total. This post is often updated, so keep checking on it!<br /><br /><table align="top" border="0"><br /><br /> <tr><br /> <td>DLWebmaestro</td><br /> <td><img src="http://www.drumlines.org/threads/images/ratingimages/u-haxorsg.gif" /></td><br /> <td align="right">86,322</td><br /> </tr><br /><br /> <tr><br /> <td>Big_John</td><br /> <td><img src="http://www.drumlines.org/threads/images/ratingimages/u-haxorss.gif" /></td><br /> <td align="right">31,448</td><br /> </tr><br /><br /> <tr><br /> <td>FreakieFrolycer</td><br /> <td><img src="http://www.drumlines.org/threads/images/ratingimages/u-haxorsb.gif" /></td><br /> <td align="right">12,102</td><br /> </tr><br /><br /> <tr><br /> <td>tenor_chick</td><br /> <td><img src="http://www.drumlines.org/threads/images/ratingimages/u-haxors.gif" /></td><br /> <td align="right">9,678</td><br /> </tr><br /><br /> <tr><br /> <td>MHSbassdude</td><br /> <td><img src="http://www.drumlines.org/threads/images/ratingimages/u-haxors.gif" /></td><br /> <td align="right">6,470</td><br /> </tr><br /><br /> <tr><br /> <td>jddrum</td><br /> <td><img src="http://www.drumlines.org/threads/images/ratingimages/u-haxors.gif" /></td><br /> <td align="right">3,908</td><br /> </tr><br /><br /> <tr><br /> <td>Trimen</td><br /> <td><img src="http://www.drumlines.org/threads/images/ratingimages/u-haxors.gif" /></td><br /> <td align="right">3,093</td><br /> </tr><br /><br /> <tr><br /> <td>CHSKnight</td><br /> <td><img src="http://www.drumlines.org/threads/images/ratingimages/u-haxors.gif" /></td><br /> <td align="right">2,857</td><br /> </tr><br /><br /> <tr><br /> <td>2ndBassChick</td><br /> <td><img src="http://www.drumlines.org/threads/images/ratingimages/u-haxors.gif" /></td><br /> <td align="right">1,373</td><br /> </tr><br /><br /> <tr><br /> <td>LooneyDrew</td><br /> <td><img src="http://www.drumlines.org/threads/images/ratingimages/u-haxors.gif" /></td><br /> <td align="right">1,259</td><br /> </tr><br /><br /> <tr><br /> <td>Cacash_refund</td><br /> <td><img src="http://www.drumlines.org/threads/images/ratingimages/u-haxors.gif" /></td><br /> <td align="right">1,228</td><br /> </tr><br /><br /> <tr><br /> <td>bass4tenor_girl</td><br /> <td><img src="http://www.drumlines.org/threads/images/ratingimages/u-haxors.gif" /></td><br /> <td align="right">423</td><br /> </tr><br /><br /> <tr><br /> <td>crazyquints</td><br /> <td><img src="http://www.drumlines.org/threads/images/ratingimages/u-haxors.gif" /></td><br /> <td align="right">341</td><br /> </tr><br /><br /></table><br /><br />Add your name by joining today!<br />

And here is the code without line breaks (how you have to enter it):

Code
<br />Here is our current list of participants with their current (as of last edit time) beans and points. Members are ordered by point total. This post is often updated, so keep checking on it!<br /><br /><table align="top" border="0"> <tr> <td>DLWebmaestro</td> <td><img src="http://www.drumlines.org/threads/images/ratingimages/u-haxorsg.gif" /></td> <td align="right">86,322</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Big_John</td> <td><img src="http://www.drumlines.org/threads/images/ratingimages/u-haxorss.gif" /></td> <td align="right">31,448</td> </tr> <tr> <td>FreakieFrolycer</td> <td><img src="http://www.drumlines.org/threads/images/ratingimages/u-haxorsb.gif" /></td> <td align="right">12,102</td> </tr> <tr> <td>tenor_chick</td> <td><img src="http://www.drumlines.org/threads/images/ratingimages/u-haxors.gif" /></td> <td align="right">9,678</td> </tr> <tr> <td>MHSbassdude</td> <td><img src="http://www.drumlines.org/threads/images/ratingimages/u-haxors.gif" /></td> <td align="right">6,470</td> </tr> <tr> <td>jddrum</td> <td><img src="http://www.drumlines.org/threads/images/ratingimages/u-haxors.gif" /></td> <td align="right">3,908</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Trimen</td> <td><img src="http://www.drumlines.org/threads/images/ratingimages/u-haxors.gif" /></td> <td align="right">3,093</td> </tr> <tr> <td>CHSKnight</td> <td><img src="http://www.drumlines.org/threads/images/ratingimages/u-haxors.gif" /></td> <td align="right">2,857</td> </tr> <tr> <td>2ndBassChick</td> <td><img src="http://www.drumlines.org/threads/images/ratingimages/u-haxors.gif" /></td> <td align="right">1,373</td> </tr> <tr> <td>LooneyDrew</td> <td><img src="http://www.drumlines.org/threads/images/ratingimages/u-haxors.gif" /></td> <td align="right">1,259</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Cacash_refund</td> <td><img src="http://www.drumlines.org/threads/images/ratingimages/u-haxors.gif" /></td> <td align="right">1,228</td> </tr> <tr> <td>bass4tenor_girl</td> <td><img src="http://www.drumlines.org/threads/images/ratingimages/u-haxors.gif" /></td> <td align="right">423</td> </tr> <tr> <td>crazyquints</td> <td><img src="http://www.drumlines.org/threads/images/ratingimages/u-haxors.gif" /></td> <td align="right">341</td> </tr></table><br /><br />Add your name by joining today!<br />

I just save the file with the line breaks for easy updating. Then, when I want to enter it, I do a little dance on the End and Delete keys.
