I am looking for a script for a friend who is a teacher
all she needs is a way to post here assignments for her
classes. So students can go on line and get the assignments.

I looked at hotscripts but didn't find anything that will work.

any suggestions?

Does she really need a script? Why not just put the assignments on a web page?

I'd recomend she buys UBB.threads. Then run dave's IIP, so she can just type the assignment in the new section and have the latest assignment on the main page. THen students could use the forum to help learn and share ideas

Ok, maybe not. But yeah, I don't see why just posting the html page is too difficult?

While she's at it, she might as well get a dedicated server and a T1 line. I'd recommend an dual Intel Xeon board, with a 5 or 6 72GB SCSI drives in a RAID configuration.

LOL

Thanks for the ideas..

No really this is very low budget favor. This is a "TEACHER" who has NO html skills let alone FTP skills.

The idea would be to only allow her to post assignments
and no interaction from students. Otherwise you have to get the parents involved, and the school board and the district, yada, yada, yada. This is only for her to post and studends to read.

I looked at the example outlined in O'Reilly's PHP book I might take a crack at writting a mysql database and some PHP pages and adapte it for her needs.

The other thought is to use FileMaker and FTP_IT a plugin. She can store her assignments in a database and then press a button and with some scripting I can create html behind the scenes and then the plugin will ftp it to her site for the studends review.

thanks sd.

Sounds like you could use something as simple as a "blog" script. Really, its just a two part script. She goes to a page to type out the assignment. Push submit, and it displays on the page. It also lists previous entries.

I'd recomend this one:

Very nice interface, and easy to use.
