My server started to screw up this morning, the SQL (giving me SQL errors), so I turned off my board. Well, things seemed to have been fixed but the config.inc.php file is showing 0 bytes.

How do I fix this? Will any config.inc.php file work? If so... a few questions:

1. Where can I get a copy of that file?
2. Can I simply send it over via FTP to fix it or will the settings be screwed up big-time on my site?
3. Do I send it in ASCII?

PLEASE HELP!!!

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

the config.inc.php contains important settings of the forums, like the settings for the mysql server and similar. The settings are specific for every forum.
If you have a backup of it, then yes, upload your backup. It is a text file, thus ascii.

If you don't have a backup, then you will have to get a file containing only the placeholders and you will have to fill in your values.

can I not re-configure those settings after I send over a raw config.inc.php file?

Without having set the server settings manually, no.

Anno, thanks for the replies.

How would I go about fixing the problem then? I can get a copy of the raw file, but how do I get the settings added?

Using a text editor, for instance SciTE
