for the past few weeks (i believe since i switched to 6.5, but maybe some time before), i've been getting 5-10 emails a day, with the same type of error message:

[]
This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:
[/]

then, the message either says its someone registering or someone trying to notify the mod of something, etc.

did i fill out an email address wrong somewhere, that is generating all of the weird errors?

Could you provide the full text of one of the emails, please?

System emails go to the address that is configured under primary settings in the control panel. Do you check and test this address ?

I notice on my board some tries to register 'spam accounts' to harvest email address or post comercials. These accounts are most time created with one-use emails services and bounces comes back to your board email.

I send out every month a newsletter and get some back. this is the point to check out these accounts and delete or notice them with pm's.

this is pretty much what i get all the time now. obviously, the "uaresostupid.com" domain is fake (though... its pretty cool! )

the "robkam2@bell..." addy is me, the weird formal one on my server (that, i'm assuming, redirects to "[email protected]," my actual address)

The "unroutable mail domain" thing seems to be an Exim complaint about not finding an MX record for the domain, according to Google...

the "uarestupid" domain, or my own?

either way, why am i being informed?

... is it, perhaps, the "confirmation email" that is going out, telling a user he is registered? (or something?)

(i do not require email verification, and i allow users to pick their own password from the get go)

Threads will still send out the email, even if you let your users choose their own passwords.

You're being alerted 'cause the mail bounces back to you.

Email sucks.
