Mod Name / Version: View Private Messages v1.0

Description: (1) This mod allows you to view PM's in FLAT mode. (2) Sometimes there is a need to view someones privates messages in order to protect your moderators or your site. This mod allows you to view PMs in a human acceptable form - database view is really not user friendly and DBCOMMAND is also time exhausting.

Working Under: UBB.Threads 6.4

Mod Status: Finished

Any pre-requisites: None.

Author(s): PaNTerSan

Date: 06/15/04

Credits: dimopoulos for PM filter

Files Altered: (1) templates\default\viewmessages.tmpl
(2) admin\selectoption.php

New Files: (1) admin\viewhismessages.php
(1) templates\default\viewhismessages.tmpl
(2) viewmessagesflat.php
(2) templates\default\viewmessagesflat.tmpl

Database Altered: NO

Info/Instructions: See below.

Disclaimer: Please backup every file that you intend to modify.
If the modification modifies the database, it's a good idea to backup your database before doing so.

Note: If you modify your UBB.Threads code, you may be giving up your right for "official" support from Infopop. If you need official support, you'll need to restore unmodified files.

Notes: [*]When using my instructions, use some board that supports ubbCode and make copy&paste instructions to a post - then use magic: preview [*]Mod can be used for saving PMs as HTML. [*]There is admin_log entry. No one should view other users PM's "just for fun". Admins only and logged! [*]Sending a PM to all admins when someone views PMs should encourage admins to debate the vieving first.

Feature suggestions & improvements: [*]None.

Looks great! Now the next thing to be done is for the PMs to appear like threads i.e. a discussion and you can have only the list of the people that you have sent or answered to.

I don't have this file in my Ubbthreads 6.5 :

admin\selectoption.php

so what do I do now? Could you tell me which file in 6.5 I need to mod instead?

The admin area ws totally redone in 6.5 - so this mod would need to be rewritten. It's tagged for 6.4.

Just look at the URL for whatever page you're trying to add it for. There isn't really an "options" page anymore in 6.5, but you might be able to adapt it to /admin/showuser.php or /admin/showuser.tmpl in the admin area. Everything was moved out to templates in 6.5.

did that in showuser.tmpl

only it doesn't work

Edit User > View received Messages

on whomever user I click to test, it just always show me my own PM's and not the user's I clicked on.

Is there any way that someone could re-code this for 6.5, it would be a really nice feature.

Is this just too difficult to code for 6.5.x ??? It would make a great feature, it would help with forum security.
