I saw that there is a mod that you can add to ubbthreads to allow subscriptions via paypal. Does anyone know of a mod that will work similarly with authorize.net?

Not currently - but it's on our list. Version 1.1 of myPaymentPal is in development as we speak. Here is the changelog.

NoChex support is the next thing we are working on - but at some point, we'd definately like to gateway with authorize.net for direct payment processing.

Until then - you might need AMember. I have a client who uses that. It works well I believe, but from what I see, it doesn't integrate as nicely with Threads and requires them to have multiple logins etc.... where myPaymentPal is totally integrated... but only handles PayPal at this time.

I use a system called aMember Pro. It has plugins for all of the major payment systems, including authorize.net (which is what I use). It also integrates fully with UBBT (for an extra $40) and will handle all of the signups, recurring payments, cancellations, and the like.

Do you by any chance have a member site running besides this as well? We do and have been having quite a bit of problems integrating the 3 parts (membersite, UBBT and aMember).

I'm not sure I understand the question.

We have a membership-only site using UBBT. Meaning all of our forums are protected. Once a member joins through aMember, they are given permission (by the software) to view those forums.

aMember also gives you the option of using a .htaccess files to password protect your entire site, or parts of your site that don't use UBBT, but we don't do that.

Yes, this is what we do have / require. Unfortunately it does not seem to work. If I understand my partner correctly then the integration of aMember and our site works, but he cannot get it to also update a group on the message board.

Anyway, seeing that you use a different setup...

I think we should all spend a bit more time with member management and subscriptions

Mypaymentpal by josh is great but only works if you use paypal and your board is public

Amember is good too, has a plugin for ubbthreads, but it does not seem to allow for any way to show some forums and hide others... and it does not work with ibill.com or verotel.com

And it looks like the two can not work together

What is the best way to manage access?

There's no best way to manage access. It depends on what you want to achieve, your offers to paying members or restrictions for non paying members.
What payment system you want to use or have to use etc.
