What is it? A complete makeover for UBB Threads. Inactive hyperlinks are not displayed and many tables have been removed to make adding graphics to your site look better.

How do I install it?

1) Backup your files first! Copy all of the template in the included zip file to your ubbthreads/templates/default directory.

Where can I see an example? Da Forum -keep in mind that I've modified my site to add graphics (those mods are also posted in this forum).

10 December 03: Version 1.0 released.
12 December 03: Added the correct version of ubbt_icon_select.tmpl
16 December 03: Fixed a colspan error in myhome.tmpl
28 December 03: Fixed an error in the ubbt_instant_ubbcode.tmpl file.
29 December 03: Stole an idea from Josh and moved the my Home and New User links in the ubbt_registerednav.tmpl and ubbt_unregisterednav.tmpl files
01 Jan 04: Fixed a bug that disabled post management in the showflat.tmpl and the showthreaded.tmpl files.
01 Jan 04: Fixed missing $calevent variable in showflat.tmpl and showthreaded.tmpl -must have more coffee...
05 Jan 04: Changed the tbopen.tmpl and tbclose.tmpl templates (they were the table wrappers that I use on my site to hold graphics).
08 Jan 04: Fixed a bug in the ubbt_unregisterednav.tmpl file (no . after the home link). Thanks Allen!
10 Jan 04: Fixed a possible bug in the editbasic.tmpl file. Thanks Allen!

hmmm.. does this have a problem with post icons showing up on the forum summary?

http://www.cccbmt.org/forum/ubbthreads.php

I get a blank image in my post about updating the software to make it more user-friendly

I had a problem with the ubbt_icon_select.tmpl file but I fixed it and re-uploaded the zip file before anyone had downloaded it. The correct template is the one that's in the /templates/alternate directory that comes with Threads.

I'll veryfy that the zip file has the correct template.

There was a bug in the ubbt_icon_select.tmpl file that would cause a blank icon to get selected instead of the default. If you've already downloaded the zip file just replace the ubbt_icon_select.tmpl file with the standard one that comes in the /ubbthreads/templates/alternate directory. I'll see if one of the other mods can help me squash the bug...

What resolution do you have your monitor set to? I'll change the menu so that it doesn't wrap

How do I insert the quick reply hack V5.0 in this facelist ? It is to hard for me to modify showflat and showthread. Is there a finished version avaible for this ?

I just looked at those two templates. You should have no problem at all finding where to insert the quick reply mod in those templates.

In showthreaded.tmpl where the compact mod starts is where it goes

and in showflat.tmpl the code to find is the same your looking for $pageprint right That table closed and then quick reply gets inserted.

I will try it tommorow again. Maybe its to late and I can't see where. Its about 2 O'clock ...

Dalantech, can you post the part from your .css for the tbopen.tmpl ?
Thats: tlc, topleft, top, topright, trc, left, middle

It's just for an example to see what do you do with it and what do you set in it. It should a base for my to try my own try's. Tjhanks for this great work.

Zarzal in the forum design forum there is the tablewrappers mod where you can download the files you need and see exactly how the classes used in the tablewrappers work.

Check out the Table wrapper mod that I wrote -the CSS changes are included, as well as some graphics to get you started

I think I found an error in one of the template files:
ubbt_instant_ubbcode.tmpl

The problem is that the options to for poll start, poll option, and poll end are all still there in a row. Polls now don't use those tags. You have to check the box above submit that says add a poll to this post. At least I think it's a problem from these templates because this is the set I use. I fixed this problem by replacing that template w/ the stock version from Infopop.

-good catch! I've fixed the ubbt_instant_ubbcode.tmpl file and the zip file in the original post has been updated. Thanks!

Conrad has sugested that all of the dead hyperlinks be removed in Threads 6.5, so hopefully the days of "Facelift" are numbered

Normally Threads displays the text of a link even if you don't have the right to use it. So, for example, the Reply link text will be visible even if the hyperlink behind it isn't available. I don't like the way it looks, so I scripted them completely out if you don't have the right to use them.

A prime example is the articles at my site -when I view it I see an edit, reply, and quote link because I've got admin rights. Normal users won't see any links at all since I don't allow anyone other than moderators and admins to edit, reply, or quote in an article.

Thanks to drkknght for spotting this one: I had my modified tbopen.tmpl and tbclose.tmpl files in Facelift (I have mine set up for graphics). I've replaced them with the stock templates and updated the zip file attached to the first post.

I just updated my profile on Da LAN Tech: What error are you getting / what are the symptoms? For Facelift I just pulled out some table wrappers so that there were fewer tables being generated, but none of the other original data was touched in that file...

When I would try to update the page with username/password/avatar stuff it would say:

"it does not appear that this was submitted from the proper place" or something like that.

I uploaded the editbasic template and editbasic/changebasic php files a few times without improvements. It finally worked again when I went back to the base editbasic template file.

OK - there is a change that needs to be made to these templates for 6.4.1... new security check.

in editbasic.tmpl, editdisplay.tmpl AND editemail.tmpl, you need to add this:

<input type="hidden" name="profilehash" value="$profilehash" />

Joined: Nov 2001
Posts: 10,369

Also - in newpost.tmpl and newreply.tmpl

This:

<input type="checkbox" name="addsig" value="1" checked="checked" class="formboxes" />
{$ubbt_lang['ADDSIG']}

Should be replaced with

$addsig

Or else anonymous people get the signature checkbox.

question: is anyone else with the facelift templates having difficulty with the automated welcome PMs?

not sure if its related or not, but, ever since i popped them in, my welcome pms are all screwy. like, you get the notification that you have one, but there's really nothing in the inbox.

other PMs work fine

?

The templates wouldn't have any impact on the welcome PMs. There was a bug in a past version of Threads that would send out a welcome PM with no subject -so you couldn't read it. Is that the error you see?

Do you have a user #2 (the main admin).

That'll happen if you're missing the user#2.

Try this SQL Query

SELECT U_Username
FROM w3t_Users
WHERE U_Number = 2

and see if you get any results.
