You have to run them as external with a sub domain. I have it running on an old dedicated machine and that is all that it does. But then we don't have that much traffic. We generate 1 to 1.5 million a month is all so far. Think it will maybe cross 2 million this winter.

Sounds like the same setup, just that I have it on a dedicated machine. Like a P3, 350 ram. Thinking about upgrading it to a little faster machine though. But this way it pretty much keeps up with the board.

I have similar traffic with my setup, the reason I ask is I heard local was faster, I don't have to have it on a sub domain but thought I read that if you have a dedicated server you can not use local mode?

I noticed that some times the page will not load until the ad pops up (several secounds sometimes) and other times it is very fast? I dunno

Sounds like you are using the javascript invocation?

If you don't want to slow the board at all really, then you should use the iframe invocation instead. That way if there is a delay in the banner server then the board still rolls right along. Most people read in flat mode (what I have for the default) so even if there is a hesitation it really has no effect. I found that the javascript invocation would slow down the display of the board waiting on the banners. With the iframe invocation, my banner server can physically crash and it really does not slow down the board, just does not display the banners.

I am still using one of their old dev. version and they have released the 2.0 version. Was going to upgrade to that with a new faster machine and more memory. As we are now coming into our busy season and we doubled last year, so 2 million is not out of the question this year.

But it pays the bills!

Yeah, I can not use I-frames due to some of the advertisers I have, against their policies etc..
"I found that the javascript invocation would slow down the display of the board waiting on the banners." I haven't put the code on the forum yet just some other content pages but was afraid of this happening.

If you have to use javascript, then use a faster machine than what I am using. Mine does not hesitate much on the banners but it does happen. But it is a result of the old machine, not enough memory and bandwidth issues. I also store 100% of all of the banners and serve them directly. So I once in a while hit my peak max on the line for that instance. Going to increase my bandwidth, so that may even fix that along with the newer server.
