I configured the board, so the user can upload his own 80x80 pixels ID photo. The upload does not work for some reason. I think I configured "Edit configuration Settings" correctly.

The normal file upload is ok. The only thing which doesn't work is the direct picture ID upload in "Edit profile..". I always have to upload pics with an FTP program and then use the URL pointer to show them.

Does anybody know if I'm missing something.

make sure your uploads and avatar direcotry is CHMOD 777. It needs to be writeable for this to work

the file to upload pictures is called ../userimages and has rwxrwx as attributes. The test in the Admin Setup is also positiv.

What is the "avatar" directory?

../userimages should be a complete PATH from root.

Something like this

/home/site/www/userimages

And then you'll also need the full URL to this.

But the full path would be required for upload.

Post what you have in the config file here if you're still confused and we probably can be more specific.

An avatar is a user picture.

it should be /home/virtual/panflute.org/var/www/htm/ubbthreads/userimages

./userimages wil not work.

Picture perfect penmanship here.

Thanks, Josh and Dave...

I used /home/virtual/site93/fst/var/www/html/ubbthreads/userimages

I don't know who gave me this pahth but the adjacent test to the entry field worked.

Dave I had to change your proposal slightly to:

home/virtual/panfluteforum.org/var/www/html/ubbthreads/userimages

And the test on the config page worked.
==========================================================
But now I logged into the forum as a new user and went into the "Edit profile..." section to place the 80x80 avatar
1.99KB . Then with submit it comes an error message :"Pictures can be no larger than 70KB bytes."

This doen't make sense since the avatar is barely 2k jpg.

To make it easier I attached 2 screen shots:

Part of "Edit Config Settings" and "Theme Settings.."

"70KB Bytes"????

Take the KB out.

That's a numerical field and the letters "break it". It wants a numerical value in Bytes.

Josh, you are the man. It works now. Thanks a lot!!!

I have one more question: Is there a way to mount a picture into a thread directly? So far I just used the UBBcode and used the pointer to an already uploaded pic on a server.

Since I have the file upload feature enabled in our forum, a user could upload the pic first and then point it with UBB to the upload directory.

But I would like to bypass these steps, so the user could just take a pic out of his local computer and it would upload it and display directly in the thread section.

I also administrate another forum from Discus. There this procedure is a standard feature.

Best regards

What would you charge to implement this Mod into my forum?

Also can you point me to a forum where this Mod has been implemented and I can try it out first?
