NAME: Facelift for UBB Threads
VERSION: 1.0.0
DESCRIPTION: A template set for Threads that eliminates some of the tbopen and tbclose table wrappers. The stock templates that come with Threads are "table heavy". This set will make your pages look cleaner, and they are even better if you are using table wrapper graphics. Completely redesigned for UBB Threads 6.3

You also get my No Dead Hyperlinks, Compact My Home Template, and Compact Extra Info template modifications in this set. You also get a dosearch template that looks similar to the UBB Classic "Latest Topics" ( Example ).

What you do not get is the Compact Profile Template. There is a profile template included in this set, but it only has some basic changes in it to make it match the theme of this mod.

WORKING UNDER: UBB.threads 6.3
PREREQUISITES: YASM 1.0 for the dosearch page. When you install YASM you only need to follow the instructions for editing your dosearch.php file (I've included the template that you need for YASM).
AUTHORS: Dalantech
CREDITS: JustDave for YASM.
DEMO: Da Forum
FILES ALTERED: Almost every file in the templates/default directory.
DATABASE ALTERED: no
NEW FILES: All included in the zip file attached to this post.

HISTORY:
2003-June-05 Dalantech Initial release
2003-June-09 Modified showthreaded.tmpl (added a reply link for non registered users that takes them to the login page. Only visible if the forum is set to not allow registered users to post).
2003-June-11 Fixed minor bug in login.tmpl
2003-June-13 Fixed a major bug in the way locked threads are handled by the showflat.tmpl and showthreaded.tmpl files. Mad props to JoshPet for pointing out the error!
2003-June-18 Updated the ubbt_header.tmpl file to the release version. Also fixed viewreminders.tmpl. Props to JoshPet for finding these bugs as well (earning that "Mr. Bug" title )
2003-June-18 Fixed a bug in postlist.tmpl that only effects sites that use a fixed width (those sites using a percentage would not see the error).
2003-July-02 Fixed a bug in the showflat.tmpl and showthreaded.tmpl file.
2003-July-08 Fixed a bug in newpost.tmpl and newreply.tmpl -thanks Josh!
2003-July-11 Fixed a bug in the showflat.tmpl and showthreaded.tmpl files that prevented editing the pointers for moved posts.

Instructions:

Back up every file in your /templates/default directory (I've edited almost all of them for this mod). Edit your dosearch.php file as per the instructions in YASM 1.0. Then upload the templates (the .tmpl files) in the zip file attached to this post to your /templates/default directory.

DAL - We'll be featuring the DAL templates when we roll out our 6.3 here.

I have to tell you, I've been playing with them.... and they ROCK!!!!

As I keep playing and setting up our mods on 6.3 I keep seeing new subtleties of your templates.

Really great work.

Well with all the hype I am sure it will be here by then. This version has dragged on and on. Way more than any other version I remember.

I've updated the showthreaded.tmpl file so that it has the same reply link that is on the showflat pages. If a user is not logged in, and the post they want to reply to is in a forum that does not allow unregistered users to post, then the reply hyperlink takes them to the login page where they can either log in if they have an account or use the register hyperlink to become a member of your site. The same reply link was already in the showflat.tmpl file, I just forgot to add it to the threaded view

If you are already using the templates then just redownload the zip file attached to the first post in this thread, extract the showthreaded.tmpl file, and upload it to your templates/default directory.

Mad props to JoshPet for pointing out an error in the way that locked threads were handled in the templates! I've solved the problem and the zip in the first post has been updated. The only files that I had to change were showflat.tmpl and showthreaded.tmpl

Edit: I had to fix yet another bug in the locked theads view. The first post has been updated.

Dal - also update the ubbt_header.tmpl file in your set - it changed between the beta and finished release. Although it doesn't totally fix the language issue - it's part of the issue.

If I use the templates the Quick Reply disappears. I can restore the templates and the quick reply is back. Is this normal?

Quick Reply is a mod and therefor doesn't come with stock templates. You would have to hack-in the code just like you did with your previous templates.

I think this is the right thread to mention this little tiny buglet in.

I use the remind me feature for all hacks I would like to install, or watch development on so I don't have to hunt for them.

I noticed today that there seems to be a missing class tag on the view all reminders page.

I'm including a screen shot.

I think that's a mod / template that was written just for this site -unfortunately it wasn't me or I'd go ahead and post a fix for it. Josh, did you script that one?

Actually no - that's the viewreminders.tmpl I think.

Looks like the section with tdheader was combined with the chart below. The td cell with tdheader needs:

colspan="2"

Thansk.

I LOVE these templates.

My forum is set to a width of 800. After the facelift one page didn't show well:
http://www.mydomain.com/postlist.php?Cat=&Board=Main
(see attached picture)
Seems that it's using 100%/95% width...

Where do I solve this ?

I'm not sure what would cause it, since the table wrapper is the same for every table. If your table with isn't set to 100% in the theme section of the admin panel then set it to 100% and see if it makes a difference.

If I set it to 100% or 90%, then all looks fine. If I try 800 or 700, the extra info table looks like my attached picture.

Dal - a little buglet.

In the newpost.tmpl and newreply.tmpl

Move

$formmethod

above the

$postname

variable - or else anonymous posts will get "not all fields filled in" as the name is outside of the form.

I tweaked those two templates and all is cool.

In threads that have been moved, (the redirection thread with just the one post) you can't edit them since the edit button disappears. I like to delete these placeholder threads after they've been around for a a while in order to reduce clutter. Could you code it so that if a person is a moderator or administrator, they could still access the edit button in these cases? Pretty please?

Sure, I'll look into why the edit buttons don't show up in those threads

Yeah, in general - the edit button is not around on "closed" posts.

Josh - this a fix is posted, you can delete it from the Admin menu.

No it's something with facelift. I noticed it and pointed it out before when we close a thread here - you can't edit it to reopen it.
