I've asked this a couple of other places, and so far I haven't heard anything definitive. I just upgraded from 6.02 to 6.1 today.
Now, when I add Graemlins through the Admin web interface, the new Graemlin appears and such BUT on the top of the page when you want to post, reply, or edit, I will get a parse error or two for each new Graemlin.
No problem, permissions just need to be changed right? Well, all my files have the proper permissions EXCEPT the newly added Graemlin GIF's. For some reason, they are defaulted to "600" I'm using FTP Pro, and I tried to CHMOD to "666" Won't let me do it!!! I can CHMOD any files that I uploaded, but the ones for the new Graemlins uploaded by UBBT can't be changed to the "proper" permissions.
Any ideas?!?! I've saved up soooo many new Graemlins to add!

When u add the greamlin in the Markup String box do you enter something like  -> if so just add NEWGRIN without the : : signs....
That causes a similar error if I am not wrong, have not testet with Smiley code... as it's not required...

It's almost like the webserver is writing the files with the wrong permissions.
Do file uploads also get the wrong 600 permissions?

Hi Josh,
Well, just before adding the Graemlins, I did uploaded a ton of new files to make the upgrade to 6.1 and there were no problems. Permissions were correct and I double checked that I could still set permissions on other files after encountering this problem. I am at a loss, but could it be host related? How does the software upload the new file and would my hosting company possibly have something in place that would prevent me from modifying a file I did not personally upload?

That's what I am wondering.
When you say uploaded files.... you mean through FTP?
What are the permissions on a file that you've attached to a post?.... I wonder if the webserver is saving the files with the wrong permissions.

JC e-mailed me this solution which gets rid of the error message. Permissions are still set at "600" and unchangeable. But it all works so I'm happy I guess you have to fill in BOTH lower fields and use the ": :" things only in the bottom one. "The person added a new graemlin and used a : or a ; in the bottom of the three boxes on the add graemlin screen. Take it out. For example, to make show as this image >> you need to type in the middle box. Putting it axactly like that in the lower box will return that error.

Looks like I spoke too soon. That solved part of the problem, but as soon as you enter the post or edit, a slew of parse errors comes up like before (one for each added Graemlin).
I'm going to contact my hosting company to see why I cannot DL, upload and replace, or change permissions on those files.
