The list below contains the current finished modifications available for versions 6.0.x. and 6.1.x.
Here is a list of big and small hacks that are currently in beta.
Remember that these mods are in beta and should not be used on production boards, you have been warned! But please install them on test boards and try them out and report how it works for you. Most links go to the post with newest version of the hack, but it is a good idea to read the rest of the thread as well before you install.
I'm trying to keep this post up to date, but it is possible that I'll forget to add some mods. If you see that a mod is missing or one that has been moved to the final board and should be removed from this list, please
contact me.
Mods working under 6.2 The following mods are working under UBB.threads 6.2 or are written specifically for that version. Some of these might work for older versions as well.
Add "Moved: " to Pointer Subject This tweak adds the word "MOVED: " to the front of the subject of that pointer left behind when a thread is moved.
Add Names to Name Change Request Email You can add the names to the Display Name Change request email with this simple hack.
Auto Expire Stubs 1.0 This uses the doexpire cron job to automatically delete the stubs/pointers left behind when you move posts.
Auto Signup v 1.0 This modification will allow users to join a particular group upon sign-up. It gives a drop down list of groups available to them to join, and will automatically make that user a member of that group.
Better Ban Tweaks to further restrict banned users from doing other things.
Calendar Enables one or more forums to be used as event calendars.
Change Age Restriction 1.0 Change the age verification built into threads from 13 to 18 (or another year) instead.
Check Post Count utility This script will allow you to correct your thread and post counts if they are off.
Contact Form 1.1 This replaces the email link in the footer with a link to a "contact us" page. This hides the email address from Spam Bots, and allows you to request all the needed info from your users (browser type, OS, nature of problem, etc...)
CSS specific Table Wrappers This modification will allow for stylesheet specific table wrappers and be based on the viewer's stylesheet preferences.
Custom No-Text Posts for UBBT 6.2 This allows you to add the infamous (NT) to subject lines of posts, to indicate there is no text within the post.
Custom Title 2.2 Gives Users of a specific usergroup the ability to change their own titles.
Date/Time Converter 1.0 This is a little addon script that converts a date and time to the Epoch time format, which is used in UBB.Threads. It will also convert an Epoch time to a human readable date and time.
Debugging Info to Admins & Mods 1.0 Only shows the debugging info (queries, generation times etc..) at the bottom of the screen to admins and mods.
Email Private Messages This modification will allow users to email their private messages to themselves. It will also send the messages in HTML if they have elected to recieve email in that format.
eMail to parent poster v1.0 Enables the same funcionality like in ubb.threads versions prior to 6.2. In 6.2 eMails are only sent if you have that thread in your favorite list. With this hack the parent poster will get a notification eMail as well.
Inline Attachments for 6.2 This hack will display the attached image to registered users that are logged in in provided that the attachment contains the correct extensions.
Location Display Fix Just in case you have a practical joker or two that like to place extremely long words into their locations to distort your showflat/showthreaded layouts you can do the following:
Mass Threads Move utility Allows you to move several threads at once between forums.
My Cookies utility This will display your cookies and allow you to expire them. When a user is having problems that seem cookie related have them use this to clear their cookies.
New posts to same topic while I'm replying? v1.0 If a user replys to a post and in the meantime new posts are added to the same topic, then a message is shown on the preview page. The message contains the username of the poster, the time and a link to the new reply.
News Fader 1.0 Adds a news fader at the top of ubbthreads.php. Show your news with style
Online User Info Allows you to view the user agent string and referer information of an anonymous user provided there is any.
The Panel Generator for UBB.threads 1.0 This script allows users to create their own personalised Panel image, save it on HD and add link to post.
PM-Limit 1.0 Limits the number of PM:s to show in the PM list and adds prev/next-buttons.
PM Quote Original Message 1.2 Gives the user the option to quote the original message when replying to a PM.
Popup Graemlin Panel If you have to many instant graemlins you can use this to limit the number displayed on the page and provide a link to open a popup window to display all of them.
Postlist Last Post By for 6.2 Shows the "Last Post By" information on the postlist page.
Private Messages Via Email 1.2 This hack expands the notification of Private Messages via email by showing you the actual message, and who it is from inside the email.
Profile Birthdays 1.4 This modification will allow users to enter their birthdays into their profile and display birthday info.
Quick Reply 2.2 Adds a quick reply box to the bottom of a thread.
Quote Username 1.0 This modification shows who you are quoting.
Re_LinkToProfile1.0 This modification adds a Re: User NUMBER with a link to their profile in flat view of Threads 6.2 Also instruction to go one step further and look up the current display name of the person the reply is to.
Reply To Who 1.0 This will add the "Re: Username" information back to posts in showflat mode.
Restore Lost Usernames to Old Posts Grabs all posts that have been posted by Registed Users with the ID of 1, which means they were deleted. It takes their Username from the old table, and places it in the AnonName from the new table, and reflags them as unregistered posters.
SpellCheck 1.2 Lets you check for spelling mistakes in your post.
Subscriber Emailer Sends emails to subscribers when a post is made instead of a daily archive.
Surpress Edited By 1.1 This allows admins and mods to unselect the box to mark post "Edited By".
Theme/Stylesheet-Specific Image Directories for 6.1.1 & 6.2 This allows the extra-picky theme designer to assign image directories for each theme/stylesheet. This way, each theme could have its own icons.
TopNews Hack 1.0 An easy way to place a short urgent new on top of the board.
User Group Status Flag 1.1 This hack will add an image that you supply next to a user's name based on their usergroup (like the mod and admin flag).
User Selectable Side Bars This modification will allow you to place a sidebar to the left or right of your .threads display.
Who's Online Box for 6.2 This will add a box listing users online to the bottom of your main index page. There are also instructions to add this info to the top of every page for Registered users.
Older mods These mods are written for 6.0.x and/or 6.1.x of UBB.threads and haven't been updated to work with v6.2 yet.
Admin menu for Moderators Removes the moderators ability to change the setting of the boards they moderate.
Aligning forum to the left rather than center Align your forum to the left instead of centered.
Allow Anonymous Users to Post Files 1.0 Allows anonymous posters to attach files to their posts.
Anchors Away Redirects to the actual post after a reply or edit is made, so that you can preview the live post.
Anonymous User Information This will allow you to view the user agent string and referer information of an anonymous user provided there is any.
Anti-Spam Measures Measures you can take to cut down on spam spiders, etc.
Approve Avatars v1.0 Requires administrator to approve all avatars uploaded by users, or linked to via http. Option to PM admins each time avatar is placed in the approval queue.
AttachFileTypeImage1.3 Adds a File Attachment Icon to the Postlist, Show Flat and threaded View indicating the TYPE of File that is attached. Also shows the size of the file in KB or MB.
Auto Group Change 1.0beta Automatically upgrades a user from one group to another when reaching a set number of posts.
Block Send Private Messages v1.0 Prevents users who have blocked private message from sending them, and advises users that someone has disabled recieving private messages when they click on any 'Send PM' link.
Browser Check Utility A little script to check if a user's browser accepts cookies, passes the referal and can run javascript.
Bypass Moderation 0.1 This is a small hack that lets you allow users of some groups to be able to post in moderated boards.
Change Sender of/Text of the Welcome PM Lets you change the user that the welcome PM comes from.
Check/Uncheck All in viewmessages Makes the check/uncheck work for all messages in viewmessages instead of just 200.
Configurable User List 1.0 Allows you to show the fields you want in the Userlist by specifying a configuration string in the config.inc.php file
Count letters of Signature in profile A counter of how many letters are still free for use in the signature field.
Dual-Language Hack 0.9 Autodedects language, allows to switch between two languages, allows to specify categories order depending on the choosen language.
Email moderators new posts This code snippet will email every new post to the moderator(s) of the forum the post is in, *and* the main administrator of the whole board.
Enable/Disable [IMAGE] On Individual Forums The forum tag setting will override the configuration [IMAGE] tag setting, so you can disable [IMAGE] tags globally, and then enable them in specific forums or vice-versa.
ExtraInfo 1.0 Shows the users Extra fields next to their posts, as well as an ICQ status indicator.
File Download Page v1.0 Allows administrator to setup a Download page, seperate from UBBT, where allowed users can upload and maintain files and descriptions.
File Upload Restriction 1.0 The restricts the uploading of files to admins and mods only.
Filter PM's 1.0 Allows your users to filter their private messages by sender/receiver and or date.
Flood Protection 1.0 Adds a function to ubbt.inc.php to enable protection against users repeatedly posting (flooding your boards). It also has the ability to track page views to help guard against a user overloading your server by requestion database intensive pages repeatedly.
Force "Edited By" on All Posts This hack will no longer give users the option to turn off the "edited by" tag when they edit their post. All edited posts will bear this "edited by" tag.
Forum Avatars v1.0 Adds a page of avatars for users to place in their profile. Includes admin section menus and pages for adding and removing avatars.
ForumIndexLoginBox 1.1 Adds a login box to the forum index for users not logged in.
Grab Birthdate Stores birthdate used for age-verification.
Graemlins Sort Order Allows you to customize the order of your graemlins.
Group Moderators v1.0 Allows administrator to set permissions for selected moderators to add and optionally remove users from selected groups. Adds links to new pages for admin and mods in admin menu.
Instant UBB Code Version 1.0 German/Englisch Instant UBB Code Version 1.0 German/Englisch
Italian language files An updated version of the Italian translation.
Limited Who's Online Access Adds a feeling of security for users because it blocks anyone who isn't registered or logged in, and also blocks anyone who has made themselves invisible.
Link to a post A small hack/mod that lets a user link a post purely by the PK. It can go anywhere in your directory structure.
Local Links v1.1 Local links inside posts open in same window, instead of opening a new one.
Mail Deleted Posts 1.0 beta Send mail to admin when deleting posts.
Mail notifications with cyrillic Adds content types on mail notifications so that they will work with cyrillic.
Make sticky posts admin only. Removes the possibility for moderators to make posts sticky.
MarkupHack 1.0 beta2 This is a hack that allows the admin to add/change/delete markup tags from the administration menu, as well as easily add or remove Graemlins. All Markups and Graemlins from UBB.threads v6.0 are included in this package, as well as quite a few new markups.
Maximum Users Online A hack that will show the maximum amount of users that have been online at the same time.
Menu Images in German Adds images instead of text link in the navigation bar, only for german users.
MessageCopy 1.0 Makes it admin configurable if the "Keep a copy of this message"-checkbox should be preselected when sending a PM.
More Stats 1.0 Adds extra statistics to the admin page. The user info shows a list of top 10 posters. The Foruminfo shows new posts in last 1/7/30 days, total no of new threads and replies (not only posts), a total of all thread views, the total number of users who have posted in the board and a list of top posters for each board.
Multiple Sigs 1.0 beta2 A hack for UBB.threads 6.x that allows users to have multiple signatures to choose from.
Multiple Usertitles 1.1 Makes it possible to have multiple user titles for each nr of posts.
MyPal Block v1.0 Beta This will allow users to define their own PAL Block on the front page. (the block will not show up if the user has not enabled it in his/her profile). The block can contain anything the users enters themselves.
"New" image after the Subject of New Posts Adds a "new" type graphic next to posts that are new.
No Default Anonymous Username Does not automatically fill in a default "Anonymous" username for Anonymous Posters and requires them to fill in a username.
no more cookie problems? Fixes problems of users not being completel logged out.
Photopost Pal v 1.0 beta The will connect to and pull a random thumbnail from the PhotoPost software and display it in a Pal on your IIP.
PhotoPost PHP integrated index This hack allowed a website that has both Threads and PhotoPost to display all forums/galleries on a single index page.
PM on moved thread hack Sends a PM to the owner of a thread if it's moved to another forum. Admin/Mod can enter a reason (optional).
PM-Reply 1.1 beta1 Adds a new post extra function to make a reply to the post in a PM.
Poll Threads 1.0 This is a hack that adds an image to the subject of threads what are containing a poll.
Postlist Image Icon v1.0 Adds a icon in front of the subject name on the postlist.php page if the original post contains an image using a full URL.
Prevent email harvesters from reading email addy Prevent harvesters from coming in and grabbing the emails from showprofile.
Private Message PopUp Notification 1.0 This pops up a little window when there are new Private Messages Waiting. The window tells how many messages, and gives a link to check them.
Private Moderation 1.0 This allows you to put a user into "Private Moderation" where all their posts will require approval from an admin or mod. An alternative to banning...allowing their good posts to get through. Almost like a probation.
Profile Email protection from Spam Bots This small hack will protect member's "Fake Email" from spam bots by hiding the mailto address in javascript.
Profile Restricton 1.0 The allows only registered users to view user profiles. Very simple to install.
Profile Star Award 2.2 This is a hack which awards stars to users based on the completeness of their profiles. Version 1.1 adds the stars to the user list, with sort ability.
Rating Restriction by Post Count 1.0 Doesn't allow users to rate other users until they have a certain number of posts.
Real time clock This hack displays the current server time on the top navigation bar - before the Admin link
"Recent messages" instead of "Search results" Changes the title on the search result page when coming from the View recent messages links.
Remove UBB Code Boxes for Regular Users 1.0 This removes the UBB Code Boxes and Instant Graemlins for regular users from the posting and reply pages.
Reply Link in Email 1.0 Just a small hack that changes the mail sent out to users who want replies sent to them so that there is a link directly to the a reply page. It also adds the subject of the post to the email. It also strips all HTML from the post when sending plain text emails.
Search Engine Hack 0.9 Replaces the links to postlist and showthreaded with simple ones without querystrings, such that search engines index them.
Search Page Upgrade 3.0beta2 This will allow the user to specify searching the subject or body only or both. It also allows specifying the username in addition to the search criteria and not as an either/or option. In addition to this, users can search in their PM:s.
Show All PhotoPost Photos from Profile This little template mod adds a link to their profile to view all the user's photos (with integrated photopost).
Show edited post as new post This hack makes editing a post setting the post as unread for everyone.
Show Poster Group v1.0 Adds the poster's group and a graphic under the user's image in left column on a post.
Signature seperation line Adds a horisontal rule between the post and the signature.
Simple Page Protection 6.1 A simple way to protect various pages by limiting the number of times an unregistered user can view them and may intice those that "lurk" to login or register at your site.
SpiderShow 1.0beta Identifies spiders (e.g. from searchengines) that visit your forum and shows them on "Who's Online". Only visible to Administrators.
Startpage Options v1.0 Adds as many startpage options as desired to the drop down menu in the editdisplay.php page.
Stylesheet-specific Image directories. Makes it possible to have different image directories for each stylesheet.
Subject Image by Group 1.0 This hack will add an image (that you define) to the front of a Subject for posts made by members of a certain group.
Swap Language "on the fly" 3.0 Allows users to easily swap language by clicking on the flag of their country.
Table prefix hack for BETA 6 Makes all table names configurable. Practical if you have more than one forum under one domain and one database.
Thread Posters Shows a list of all posters in the thread in the Extra Information box.
Thumbnail Image Markup Tag 1.0 This works like the [ image ] tag, except that it constrains the image to a width defined in the config file, and turns the small image into a link which when clicked, will open the full size image in a new window.
Title Images Based on Post Count 1.0 This hack will add whatever image you'd like to the title of a user based on total post count.
ubbtnews.php hack This hack will allow you to format the date output just about any way you want it and makes your news posts look like a post in your Threads forum.
Underline Tag Add-on for UBB Code Allow your users to use underline in their posts. (Optional) Lets the user just click on a link and it will automatically insert the tags into the body of the message.
Unlimited Edit Time In Select Forums 1.0 This hack will allow users to have unlimited time to Edit their posts in Selected forums only. It overides the Edit time in the config file on whatever boards you wish.
UnregisteredNavLoginBox 1.0 Adds a login box to the top navigation bar for users not logged in.
User List - Add to Address Book Link Adds a link in the User List to add a user to your address book.
User List Location 1.0 BETA Adds the Location and Ability to sort by location to the User List
User Title Images 1.0 Allows you to edit user titles from the admin menu and use HTML for images as titles.
View/Expire Cookies This script will allow the user to view the cookie names and values as seen by the script, and expire them.
View recent messages Displays NEW POSTS 24 h / 48 h / 7 days on top like in UBBT 5, so that users can see what posts are new without having to scroll down on the page.
Obsolete mods The following mods, or similiar versions of them, have been added to the main distribution of UBB.threads and are now obsolete, but can be useful for users still using older versions of the software.

A hack that logs all activity in the admin section that changes something.
AutoQuote v2.0.2 ***ADDED IN 6.2***
Allows your users to reply to a message while quoting someone. Lets the user just click on a link/icon and it will automatically put the tags around the body of the message that they want to quote. Also reformats the quote box.
Change Username Hack 2.0.1 ***ADDED IN 6.2***
Changes a username, or merges two usernames.
Change Username for 6.1 ***ADDED IN 6.2***
This hack lets you rename a user to another username, or merge two usernames. It works for version 6.0
Last Post By (Main Index) 1.0 ***ADDED IN 6.2***
Adds the post icon, name and link to last post on the ubbthreads.php page.
Mark One or All Read ***ADDED IN 6.2***
This modification will allow a registered user to "Mark All Read" all new threads/posts or just one board at a time by clicking on the lighted light bulb. NOTE: The Mark All Read portion of this script is added in v6.2 of UBB.threads.
MySQL Error Log ***ADDED IN 6.2***
Log MySQL errors to a file.
Userlist Alphabet/Number Sort ***ADDED IN 6.2***
Sort your member's list by the alphabet or number.
User List Sort for 6.1 ***ADDED IN 6.2***
This hack will allow you to view the User List by starting letter or number. This is Essential if you have a large User List
at the moment - but expanding all the time....)
