Hi,

An alternative of the removal of the moderators column template.

This one also removes the first column, which contains the light bulb - instead an invisible column (for the light bulb) is in the cell with the forum name / description.

This enables you to have an invisible light bulb if there are no new posts. and saves having a long column of the same 'off' bulbs.

The advantage here is that it is very obvious when there are new posts, as the icon then appears. Under the original template it would have meant an obvious blank column with a table border, if this method had been adopted.

Attached is the new ubbthreads template (txt) - replace contents of ubbthreads.tmpl with attached file & a transparent light bulb for uploading to the images folder.

The transparent light bulb is of course optional.

Demo - On this page

Regards,

Ian

Hmmm... a well laid plan always has hiccups - for some reason the lightbulb is not appearing now!! It is only displaying the 'off bulb'.

Strangly that bit of code is untouched

Ian

Put the original template back, and it still fails to light

guests don't get the lightbulbs.. do you have a test acct?

You may try clearing your cookies and see if that fixes it

hmmm... if they don't work still after loading the unchanged template then it could be a conflict with your javascript I see. You also might spend a little time working on the html in the header, not sure if that has any effect on it, but your site will load a bit faster once the tables in the header are cleaned up

w3 and you - you are missing a td and tr in there, looks like

<!--- Stylesheet Include --->

should be :
<!-- Stylesheet Include --> - some browsers will choke on the extra -

Weird it has now come on - so I guess you logged in and posted - not sure why it would not do this on two different computers, with two different logins.

Also forgot that guests do not get the lightbulbs - I need a break!

Anyway it all seems to be working now....

Ian.

Don't know if this is a quirk with my board or not.. but something you might want to check. Each time I go into edit my Config settings, it defaults post tracking to "off". I have to choose "full post tracking" from the pull down each time I go in there to change something.

Might want to check that if it seems the post tracking is off since you reinstalled the original template. If yours is doing what mine is, and you went in to change something, it might be off.
