Thought someone could help me here.
I would like to use a second drive as a backup of all the Mysql databases including WWWThreads and I am having problems mounting the second drive. Using Mandrake 6.0 and have an IBM 13 Gig drive on hdc. I believe I have a P5-A Asus motherboard and a AMDK6-2 450 Processor which I had to reduce to 400Mhz, so it would work, and have 128 MB of Ram.
Ok, so I place the IBM disk as master on the secondary IDE and then go in as root fdsk /dev/hdc and create a primary partition with all cylindars and it shows that it is there. Then I create a dir and then try to mount the drive and the terminal stops working- I start another terminal and see that the mount process has a D infront of it (possibly waiting for IO), so I do a fsck /dec/hdc1 and it shows clean. So my question is if I can format, partition and check the drive, why can't I mount it? I have had responses from the controler is bad or to repartition with fewer cylindars. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
