Hello friends,
I am new and still a BBS hunter at this point in time; however, I am so impressed with WWWThreads for its amazing speed, customization flexibility, and the use of mySQL. So, if my questions sound stupid, please advise.
I just noticed that the 4.4 Beta Release just came out today. Unfortunately, it is only available for licensed users, so I do not know exactly what features got implemented in release 4.4.
I can't still decide to go with WWWThreads because it does not have the following features that are needed for our
site (if I am wrong, please correct!). I am also considering Discus Pro because of its suite of features. It, too, has limitations that hinder my decision, particular, it does not use database and it is less customizable.
Here is the list of things I believe missing from WWWThreads 4.3.4:
---------------------------------
1) Ability to email to all registered users.
2) Ability for adminstrator/moderator to add additional fields for user profile, besides what is currently specified in 4.3.4. Basically, we want to collect additional personal information from the user whenever we like. The user can then be allow to specify whether a field is hidden from public view.
3) Also, it does not have the ability for a user to specify a particular field of his profile as hidden field. Basically, no other registered users can see this hidden field, except the administrator and the moderator. Thus, when the moderator of a moderated board views the list of moderated messages, he can see the user's ALL profile information (including hidden fields) by clicking on the message's poster name.
4) Email notification to the moderator when a new message is posted in a board moderated by him. It is even nicer if the administrator would also be notified.
5) Ability for administrator/moderator to search for a particular registered user. Once found, he cound edit the profile if needed.
6) I really love to be able to send an automatic response message, like
"We will try to reply as promptly as possible to your question." to a user
whenever he posts a new message to a moderated topic. In this way,
the message makes him feel like he is having a very personal service from our staff.
I don't think WWWThreads has this feature.
----------------------------------
Scream, if you could, please post all the new features in 4.4 so everyone can see.
Thanks so much for your time and inputs.
Sincerely,
Etalk
