::nod:: welcome ... Funny thing is all I've been doing is scanning through files updating them for myself, figured I'd share since some authors havne't had the time to update their stuff heh.

I felt kinda bad since I had installed all of these on 6.4 but never wrote down the changes I had to make...seems pretty selfish now.
Okay, is it me, or is anyone else having trouble downloading the zips from Gizzy's site?
I've tried with a couple of the files, and a dialogue box appears, but I don't see any evidence of a file transfer (i.e. it doesn't give me the option of saving the file to a specific location, etc.)
10 megabit connection, linux machine, 20 gig dedicated disk drive, shouldn't be a thing wrong with it. Did you select "Do not show a dialog for files of this type" on .zip files?
# Open cp_common.pl (In Templates) # Find document.writeln("");
Does not exist in my cp_common.pl file.

I did find an error in your install instructions. In the optional QuickReply w/ Quote instructions, you have "in: public_forum_page.pl" and this should be "public_topic_page.pl", as these lines aren't contained in forum_page.
Ahh crap, file updated lol, when I do things I do them quickly so expect some minor errors...
Stupidboy.com, what are you doing in cp_common.pl? I don't recall this hack doing anything in the control panel... In either case, look for "wordlets_img" and add the cp_common line below it.
the line in ubb_profile.cgi where you replace: -value => [$user_profile[0], md5_hex($new_password), $public_name, $in{DaysPrune}, $in{u}, $pntf_hidden, $avhide,
I hope the text file was correct because I just installed this puppy!
Also, because I love Multihack, I created a Multihack file ... Allen or anyone else, if you want to test it out and make sure it works for you (it seems to be working for me), I'd appreciate it.
Because I installed the Calendar hack before I installed this, I did have to make an alteration to the directions provided by Gizzy.
Therefore, I've made two Multihack files ... one, for those of you who have installed the Calendar hack; the other, for those of you who have not.
I should also add that neither file takes into consideration the directions for the Spellcheck hack; I haven't installed that--don't know if I will. Thus, if you have the Spellcheck hack installed on your site, you'll have to manually change the public_topic_page.pl so that the Quick Reply hack works with that.
Okay ... I have had no problems installing this hack ... everything was going smoothly, except when I log out of my control panel and try to come back in ... I then get this message:
Quote
quote: Hack attempt logged or corrupt/altered member file found with extra fields. ('00000002')
Any idea why this might happen?
More importantly, is there a way I can fix it without having to go back and upload clean files and starting over?
I know that the problem is with this hack because I logged in and out after I installed the previous hacks (calendar, smilie, and vars_word_mods)
I wonder if that has to do with the checkbox options in the public_edit_my_profile.pl? Try taking out the Quick Reply code in that file and see if you still get that error...If so then it needs to be re-hacked.
Because I like to install hacks manually I did not hack the profile and registry .pl files since I wanted everyone who is logged in to see the Quick Reply.
Nah...I hacked ubb_profile.cgi with that line and no errors.
In my experience the extra profile field errors are situated in the .pl files. When I was upgrading to 6.4 I got the extra member's field error. To resolve that I just uploaded my edited .pl files to complete the upgrade with no errors. I did most of my template and .cgi edits on a testing board and when I upgraded I uploaded all .pl, .cgi and some of the vars files. That way members are not burdened by the hacks.

PT,
Would you not hack the public_edit_profile.pl file at all, then?
I didn't add it to the mix when I re-did everything, and I'm still experiencing the same problem. It's kinda frustrating because when I install the hack, everything works the way it is designed to work; then I log out of the control panel and try to get back in, and I'm met with the "hack attempt" message.
I'm going to be out & about so I won't be able to look at this until Saturday at the earliest. I'd appreciate any feedback as to what I'm doing wrong.

Would that be the "mod-addon" hack?
I'm able to work on this stuff tonight after all ... my car died on me tonight.

I didn't hack either public_edit_profile.pl or public_register_page.pl and error free.
Even if you edit the ubb_lib_files.cgi but still get the profile field error undo the Quick Reply hack and see if that resolves your issue. Are you running any other hack that requires to add extra profile fields?

Hmm...For now take out all traces of the Quick Reply hack and see if you still get your errors. If you do then another hack or modification is interferring with your codes; if you don't then the problem lies in the Quick Reply.
This way any doubt will be resolved. Process of elimination is a lot better than going through the mess with a comb.
hey Sue, in reading your posts... you've got a current or past mod installed that uses profile fields higher than what your current maxmem field # is set to... this quick reply mod uses 61, so maxmem is set to 61 for this mod. I forget which ones use higher numbers, check the 0000002 profile and see how many lines are being used.
And Gizzy, I am almost positive that cookie4 line in ubb_new_topic.cgi needs to be replaced, not added under

Um, Allen, where would I count these lines?
In the actual profile? In the 00000002.cgi file?
I've tried using the newstrip.cgi file to "strip" previous hacks, but that file only goes up to 6.1X, and I wonder if it's missing stuff.
You can log-in under Damn Bug with the password of CVWG38 ... or you can register on your own. I did register successfully, so the issue is when I'm logged-in and I attempt to access my profile OR the directory.
If someone could point me in the right direction, I'd be most appreciative.
I'll look at the 6.5 Beta stuff sometime this next week (I'm swamped, trying to finnish planning for new site features, etc). If anyone else would like to take a stab at it feel free.
Installed it but for some reason in the quick reply box the preview botton doesnt appear, it only says "preview_button". I check each file, cant seem to find the problem.
That's actually not a part of this modification, this modification is just the QR box, as the 1, 2, etc is in the base code. Your best bet is the forum design and integration section of UBBDev.
Ian is correct. Quick Reply was made a standard piece of coding in 6.7 and the "Full Reply Form" button was added. In the previous versions there was a blank button where full reply form is, thats where the spell check button went ...
Note for anyone who's runnin this mod on 6.5 and before, this mod is final, as the mod has been integrated into 6.6+ it is no longer maintained by it's porter.
The previous "error" was due to too many extra profile fields in the memberdata after an upgrade, which are hardcoded in the board config. This "error" had nothing to do with the stability of this modification.
