Has anyone had any success editing cp_edit_profile.pl so that the public display name, e-mail address, and password can be edited by Admins through the control panel?

Is there an existing hack for this?

Well I don't think their password needs to be editable since that will be a privacy issue.

But I do want access to edit their public names and e-mail address. Will be helpfull when handling customer service matters with your members.

Privacy? The password is visible through the control panel anyway.

I've found that problems requiring an Admin to change the password of a user comes up just as often as those problems where you may need to change the e-mail address or public name for a user at their request.

Unfortunately there are just some people that can't make these changes in the profile themselves no matter how easy it is for them to do. In those cases it is easier to just make the change for them instead of being forced to repeat the instructions over and over. :rolleyes:

Just to make it perfectly clear this is something I would only use at a member's specific request.

Great idea Steve. I'd like to see this as a mod as well.

Terminator_X: if the hack is done correctly, Admins would not be able to edit other Admin or Moderator accounts via this method.
