I was messing around with my 6.3.0 version and I was looking for a stars hack and couldn't find one. Yes there is probably one here but I must have overlooked it. Anyway, I found an easy way to make stars without using any hacks, just using the UBB and you can even make custom stars!

Hack Name: Stars Hack With Custom Stars

Author: Neo11223

Thanks To: PhillyPlaya - For the stars I used one my forum.

Description: Places stars above or below member title.

Demo: n/a

How To Do It: First, upload the stars or whatever image you want to use to the non cgi part of your form. Second, log into the CP and go to User Titles. Select the title you would like to edit and/or have stars by and user the following codes..

Use this line of code for member title THEN stars:
Member Title Here

Member Title Here

If you would like to have custom stars simply go to whatever user profile and use the same line of code in the "custom title" field.

And that's it! I know some of you already know this. I just thought I'd pass it along to the ones who don't, it's really a nice little tip. thumbsup

Requirements: UBBâ„¢ 6.3.0, Valid UBB.classicTM License

You will have two problems currently with 6.3.1.1 as I outlined in the bug section of Infopop last week.

The Admin and Moderator settings will change > & < to the ascii code ... you will have to edit the ubbsetup file manually to correct it. The custom title section of a users profile currently does not allow for as much information as the User Titles do so you will have to be creative if you plan to use full path information. These should be fixed in version 6.4

The old one I wrote should work, but there were a lot of changes so I'm not sure about it.

I have a half-finished new version of the stars hack (For status I should be able to simply port it over from the older version, with minimal, if any, changes) for the latest version of the UBB. Perhaps someday I'll finish it. I need to do is add the CP boxes and I'm not sure what else (It's been a couple months frown ). :X

This is nice, but what if you want to have a star above or below the name AND have the ranked user titles?

The forum only allows so much text per title... I suggest cutting down your urls to the images...

Hey nice one.
I've been looking for something similar to Jimbo's rank/status hack ever since upgrading from 6.05 to 6.3.1.2

This "hack" along with the More User Rankings hack I can get my members ranks set up fine (A rank along with a pic underneath, not very large)

The one aspect left I'd like to find is to be able to set a custom rank (fixed) to admins/mods that overides the default Administrator or Moderator so that each can be unique admins/mods if I want them to be, otherwise they keep the default.
