I've had this hack installed for a while, but I just noticed that my birthday will show as an old PDN of mine, when I installed the hack. Now, a member goes to put his birthday in, it's the correct date, but it only appear's as 's Birthday....Any suggestions?

ZIP/MHK files updated, I used "#!/usr/bin/perl -w" and fixed all known ubb_lib_calendar.cgi warnings. You'll see some from ubb_lib.cgi, tho smile

Is it possible to edit the forum_summary template that the calendar part wil look like authority list, statistics etc. on the mainbar. I tried something by myself:

Find:

sub PageBottom {
my $Bottom = qq~

Add below:

face="$vars_style{FontFace}">
$vars_wordlets_calendar{calendar}

align="center">

$calendar

And it looks good then, but where the actually calendar events should appear you get a tabel whit in that the calendar events. Please help smile
'), change it to:

after "sub PageBottom {
my $Bottom = qq~", add "$calendar".

I'm working on installing this hack into my test board as a dry run for my actual board; I am using the Multihack program.

When I do the analysis, this error appears:

quote:
recognizes cp.cgi?ubb=stuff
What exactly does this mean, and how do I go about fixing it? laugh

I have installed the Modification Wordlets' hack and the UBBNEWS hack. Otherwise, I haven't touched the original cp.cgi

My test board is at

http://adwoff.com/ubb-test/cgi/ultimatebb.cgi

Thanks!

So use MultiHack, and then hack cp.cgi with the manual instructions.

I think LK means to hack everything BUT cp.cgi with MultiHack, and then hack cp.cgi with the manual instructions. So you'll have to download the .zip file, too.

Correct me if I'm wrong though, LK.

You can't choose not to hack cp.cgi, but yeah, that's about what I mean.

LK, I've been asked by user if it could be possible te receive a mail with today's or tomorrow's birthdays.

What do you think of it ? Maybe users could register in profile if they want a mail or not.

It's possible, but:

a. It will be used when someone views forum summary after cache is cleared (like someone posts or someone registers).
b. I need a nice greeting card in both ASCII and HTML.
c. I won't edit the Profile page. I'll use the option to allow mass mails.

I understand B and C (I can make you the nice greeting cards) tho I am not sure what you mean by a. When the e-mail will actually get sent ?

Also by default the calendar uses american date format (mm dd, yy) could you make it use the format specified in the cp ?

1) nevermind, but can I get the greeting card? tipsy

2) Does it matter? It's not 03-12-02, it's March 12, 2002. So you'll just make it 'mars 12, 2002'.

Is there a way I can modify the calling of ubb_calendar_ssi.cgi to display events for the week instead of just the current day? It would be helpful for my visitors to see what's coming up in the near future right on the main page, and there are usually only one or two events listed for any given day anyway. If there's some way to easily modify that, I'd be very greatful. Thanks.

Enjoying the hack, LK, thanks! Any plans to implement a way to edit existing events other than hacking the vars_calendar_events.cgi file? Or perhaps I am being dense and am refusing to see the feature? smile

Sir, you can use that cute tiny calendar for 1 month events. smile

Michael, just click on 'Review Events' on the day with the events you want to change. You're refusing to see the past wink

Thank you for the bonk on the head, LK! I suspected I was being thick-headed since I couldn't imagine you having gone to all of this work only to overlook the obvious need to edit existing events. shocked

LK, thanks for replying. I actually do like that little calendar option, but the text-based messages would be much better suited for my website. That way they can read the upcoming events at a glance without even having to click anything. I don't know how much reconfiguring it would take, so that's why I'm asking...but if it's not that difficult, it would really add some functionality to the hack in my case. Thanks again.

It shouldn't revert to HTML, I guess you modified UBBCodes...

There is no such thing as 'calendar' cache, but the calendar shows events from its file, it doesn't access all member files, so you'll have to remove it in the event review section.

LK...thanks so much for the calendar hack! It was really needed on my site!

Have a question though...(someone as smart as you can probably figure this out)

I had Newsfader installed prior to installing the Calendar and have now lost access to News Fader in the control panel. (I think they occupy the same line in the code) I have a feeling...I need to change a simple number somewhere! Help?

Thanks ahead of time!

Well...beat me with a stick...I think I found the mistake!

replaced the line operating the newsfader instead of just adding the one for the calendar! *bonks herself in the head*

Sorry for the bother!

I upgraded to 6.2.1.1 today, and reinstalled the calendar hack, and I'm not getting that HTML error anymore - so I must have messed something up in the past. Glad to know it's nothing to do with the hack. smile Something that I wasn't aware of is that the birthdays don't appear on the calendar until each user edits their profile (or new ones sign up). That's why it was showing some, but not others...if you install the calendar after you already have members registered, every single one of them have to click "update profile" in order to be seen on the calendar. Which is cool, but I didn't see that notated anywhere so it got a bit confusing. You might want to add that to the FAQ or something.

Can you explain how the calendar derives the date from using the number field located at the beginning of each line in vars_calendar_events.cgi? (ie, ||2452328||). I would like to add more years to my dropdown box (you explained to me how to do this before), but I'm just a little nervous that I'll break the relationships of the existing events to the correct days if I do. I just don't really understand how it works, so I'm being very cautious. smile

I'd also still really like that "show weekly events" thing in text format if that's possible. Thanks for your time!

One question, what are the correct CHMOD settings for vars_calendar_events.cgi
I keep on getting an error from the system access denied.

I've tried 755 and 777 but continue to get the access denied in control panel when updating the calendar wordlet list:

Can't open '/home/deltagru/public_html/lacueva/cgi-bin/vars_wordlets_calendar.cgi'.

"Permission was denied - please ask the administrator to check the permissions on that file/directory!

The exact error returned by the operating system is:
Permission denied"

First of all, great Hack LK! wink

I installed it on my 6.2.1.1 Board without any problems, but it seems that it doesn't let me change a few wordlets. My Board is in german, and even if I changed birthday to Geburtstag it doesn't show up in german. Same with .. years ago and review today's events.

Any suggestions what's wrong here?

Well, I don't think there is anything wrong with the wordlets file, because all the other wordlets are working fine and are changeable.

Hi guys, - using 6.2.1

Seem to have a little problem here. The multihack analyzes ok except for: error: requires vars_wordlets_calender.cgi in cp.cgi.

Ok so by reading above I attempted to manually hack cp.cgi as per the text file but -

######after:

foreach my $file (qw(display misc

######add:

wordlets_calendar

can't be done because foreach my $file (qw(display misc doesn't appear anywhere in my cp.cgi.

Any advice - greatly appreciated, this is the last mod I needed to install.

It's 1:15am in Sydney and I'm beat - G'night
