just wondering, is there a way to convert this hack to use a drop down where the name is while posting a topic or reply? so whoever is logged in would be the default name, but you could select another user from the existing cookies that are on that machine.

sorry to be a pain!

Checked my server log and it showed this error:

[Tue Nov 6 10:27:48 2001] id_switch.cgi: Execution of /www/cgi-bin/id_switch.cgi aborted due to compilation errors.
Not enough arguments for mkdir at /www/cgi-bin/id_switch.cgi line 61, near ""$vars_config{MembersPath}/identities";"

Can someone point me in the right direction to get this working on my 6.1.0.3 board? It creates the identities folder fine, but never list any alternate identities for me to choose from. I've tried every config I can think of and I end up with 0 byte files for my member numbers in the identities folder.

Okay, I grabbed the entries that need to go into the vars_wordlets_mods.cgi file from the hack in the 6.0x finished mods forum, and was at least able to read what I was supposed to do.

I went in and manually added the username||password to the file in the members/identities directory and it works...for me. I still can't get it to write the user and pass info to that directory though, it's still writing o byte files.

Any help would be more than greatly appreciated.

Make sure the permissions on the identities directory is set to 777, and that everything is in the proper format.

It's on an IIS server so I don't need CHMod. I asked the hosting provider to check permissions for me. It is able to write the file, but it stays 0 bytes.

I'm really using it for myself right now to test permissions on certain board functions as a normal user. It is a really cool hack though!

Well, you've got me curious. What is your OS? Perl version? I might have to "clean" some of the code to make it prettier for windows nt servers.

I can't get this to work on my 6.103 board and I'm getting the same error in my pop-up window as another person with trouble:

Execution of id_switch.cgi aborted due to compilation errors.

Any ideas???

I'm thinking I can get it to somehow. I suddenly have a need for it. LD I think I fixed the invisible problem at Netwerkin.

well, so far so bad. I get compilation errors and a lot of the code in 6.3 is different. I tried a couple variations but since I really have no idea what I'm doing I got a "not safe" or some such error.

I think I'll wait until MM ports it.

And I'll check out Netwerkin now. smile
