one thing with the instructions, some people might not know to goto the second instance of "forum_form" in cp_edit_forums.pl so you should add that laugh

J*Jewell,

####
#### Find
####

local(@new_access_members, $new_member, $temp_user_number, $count, @user_profile, $chompee

####
#### Replace with
####

local(@new_access_members, $new_member, $temp_user_number, $count, @user_profile, $chompee);

####

####

Does it work now?

Borg, any chance we could see a list of members, and have the ability to add them to the "private forums list" by checking them off. I think it is kind of mundane to have to write each user's name in there.

Fixed the download. laugh Thanks J.

Not sure what you mean with the suggestion tho- do you mean have a search feature to list members, then be able to give them access from that? Sounds an awful lot like the existing system...

Let my try to explain what I mean more clearly....

Currently (without your hack), in order to give a bunch of users access to a private forum, you must go into each individual member profile, and check the box that grants them permission to post in the private forum.

I would like the ability to see ALL the registered members on ONE list, and be able to give access to private forums via a checkbox to anyone I want. Once you click "submit" it updates EVERYONE'S profile at once.

In a nutshell, this is basically your hack does, but instead of writing each user name in manually, I would like to have a list of all the registered members that I can pick from.

For a board that has a lot of members and has various access groups, it is a real pain in the butt to type in manually each and every member that you want to include into an access group.

I hope that cleared things up a bit... wink

This seems great, but my biggest concern is that this allows the moderator for that forum to have access to all of that forum's settings. Including the option to turn off/on HTML and any other feature you may not want them to have control of.

Is there any way to restrict the access a bit more so that it looks similar to the hack for UBB5?

Currently running UBB6.04d.

[EDIT] Heh, nevermind, I have it solved. [/EDIT]

Borg

Great hack makes life a lot easier

I have one tip for ppl who only want there mods to have access to private forums

in cp_common.pl{Templates}

Find:
if (userStatus == "Moderator") {
document.writeln("");

and change to

if (userStatus == "Moderator") {
document.writeln("");
document.writeln("");
document.writeln("");

get_forum_details&number=??> = being the actual forum numbers.

PS I have noticed that this will only allow mods into the forums that they are mods in

Hope this tip will help smile

Thanks a lot, Borg! This hack make control easy for de admins. I hope you release soon other beta than can REMOVE access from private forums.

I have a question...

When I tryed to enter a list to allows access to the forum, I get the error "No member number found" but the login names are correctly typed...

Example:

user1
user2
user3
user4

I get an error, and I have to enter one by one. frown

Sorry for my English!!

Thanks!!

Sounds like a problem with the end-of-line characters.

There's actually a HUGE bug in the PFAL when giving access to a member who doesn't have any other provate forum access... I'll release v 1.5 with remove options, and the fix, and then 2.0 for UBB 6.1 smile

Soooon...
