Hi guys, i did some little modifications on that great hack.....I did the instalation and serious tests on a board with the Who's online installed. Work like a charm!

What's new! A warning message with icon and sound at the top of your summary page. Completly apart from the loggin/loggout and you easily can put it anywhere on your page. It tell you how many messages you have and link to your inbox.

I edit the original hack ....so Easy i hope it is ok with you if i called it version 1.2 to do a difference between the original and the one with my mods. Anyway, you can do what you want with it.;)

Works fine if your cache on
if you set cache off you not see private message info

Very strange....the cache is off on the 2 differrent boards where i installed the hack and it is working well. :rolleyes:

Do you mean to re-add the code that follows three times or just for the first instance? Also the line appears twice, the third isn't EXACTLY the same - this can cause confusion.

I think you make something wrong in the ubb_forum_summary.cgi at the third print "ThisHTML"; The hack work's with and without the cache.

He Astro23 if you write a hack and you put it here in the forum you cannot ignore the other user which have problem's with your hack.

Even this updated hack doesn't work on v6.04e with Who's Online 3.8Qd (latest) and the v1.2 documentation is too crossed with that of the v1.1 - making for confusion and re-printed information.

E@sy can you please update v1.1 so it works with 6.04e and the latest Who's Online.

I have ViewPMInfo1.1 and who's_online3.8qd running on 6.04e without any problem.

What's the problem here?

This works great! The only problem I had is that the:

$replace='You have '.$howmuch.' new PM in your message inbox';

assumes that your non-cgi directory is below your cgi directory so I had change this line to get the on.gif to show up. I'm not hearing any audio either and I think I know why now

Besides this minor problem, it works fantastic! (I'm using the latest updates of Who's online, this hack and version 6.04e)

try to put a slash (/) in front of ubb
so it would look like:

$replace='You have '.$howmuch.' new PM in your message inbox';

First of all thank you e@sy and I fixed the the zip now.

Ok, maybe there was a little confusion in my text but i tryed to do my best...this is my first time to edit one of my hack. I did that for my board and i am not a pro. I have an other hack here (split_topics hack) and i hope my text is ok in this one.;)

Unfortunatly I cannot get this to work on UBB v6.04F & Who_Online 3.9Qa at all. Don't even get any changes to the actual layout. Followed installation instructions to teh LETTER numerous times.

I've gotten whosonline to work for me, but i am still having trouble running this one on version 6.04f, anyone else had this problem, or know how to fix it . . .i've tried to install it 5 or more times and still it wont work grrrrrrrr

I don't get any error just nothing different shows up. It looks the exact same as it did before i installed it. Any ideas?

Sorry, i dont know what to tell you. I installed this hack on 3 different ubb following my text file for the hack and it is working perfectly. Maybe you did not follow the exact procedure?

I works only when you get on, this is most likely what it's supposed to do, but i need it too say something all the time even if the member doesn't have a message. And how do i add it to the bottom of the forum summary page. Thanks.

I have the hack working on my board, but I only get a notification if it is a new message, not a reply.

Any help would be appreciated.

Like I said in my previous post, everything is working now with WOL3.9a and numerous other hacks.

One small niggly problem though, occasionally the 'You have X New PM's' notification displays, but there are no new pm's in the 'inbox'. I have had this happen a few times to me, but it isn't anything major. If anyone has an idea why this does this occassionally, I would appreciate knowing.

Next time you see the new msg display, hit refresh (F5)... and see if it stays.. if it does, then there's probably a msg there, go look.... If it goes away, it's probably your browsers cache or cookies....

Yes sometime you have the notification and the message is not in your inbox but do a refresh and he will be there. My hack is too fast for the UBB...lol

This post is for clearing up and clarifying some of the issues on this hack..First of all I have UBB 6.05 with WOL 4.0.0, NewsFader 2.1,UBB Codebuttons 6.7, smilie mod 1.0, Country flag hack, and several other hacks installed on my board..

After installing this hack correctly, It worked perfectly..So if it isn't, you've done something wrong..

Another reason for this post is fix some errors in the code..FreeTV got this one right..(putting the '/' before 'ubb')

Many of you who have experienced problems with this not working or not displaying properly can have it easily fixed..Here's how..For clarity I will copy and paste my edited version of these instructions

This now fixes the following errors:
$replace=' now becomes
$replace='
(by adding the / before ubb you have now pointed the gif to the right folder (ubb) and not (cgi)..Also notice the on.gif is now pmon.gif which happens to be the real name of the gif included in the zip you downloaded)
also:
src="ubb/fnewm.wav"
now becomes...
src="/ubb/fnewm.wav"

(again, by adding the / before the ubb, you have now pointed the wav file to the right folder (ubb) and not the (cgi) folder..

Final important note: After installing this hack you will not see anything different on your forums' main page until someone PM's you..At this point ask someone to PM you.. Or, even better, set up another username for yourself and then send a PM to your original username..After doing that, log back on under your original username and view the main forum page..You should see the "You have 1 new PM in your message inbox" link at the top of the page with a blinking light to the left of that link..Everytime you refresh this page, or, minimize and then maximize, you should hear the "You have new mail" wav file..Enjoy..
I have found no bugs with this hack as of yet.

I haven't found any problems with this hack and it works great. I also upgraded it to PM Center which looks lots better. You can view it how I have it in action at http://www.ultanime.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi

Well after installing the hack... and after reading all the posts this hack still does nothing.

Does anybody have this hack uploaded elsewhere? Astro's site is down.

The server is up now...and this hack work well

I can't get it to work. My page wont even show up when I installed it. I got the hack all installed now exept for the hacked ultimatebb.cgi file.

with out editing the ultimatebb.cgi I am getting something. to show up. so im just going to make an edjucated guess. that i did something wrong with the ultimatebb.cgi part of it. (btw i'm not edjucated so i could be wayoff on this)

Please help. I see on the board that some of you you were able to get the "View PM" hack and the WOL hack to work together. Both work fine for me seperately but only the "View PM" works when they are both installed. How did you fix yours to get both to work together?
