The purpose of this hack is to divorce the Private Message page from the "my profile" page. It will also create a PM link in the header.

Can't give out URL since our forum is Member Access and Private, but I can give some screenshot here.

1st, below is the main page, note the link "PM" next to "my profile".



Next, this is what you get when you click on "my profile":

I have re hacked it twice now...

Oh, forgot to mention you need to have the sendpm hack by amykhar to fully use that send pm box

Nice! I've never liked how the PM's where integrated into the Profile page.


..just noticed something. What if the PM page read,

Title of Forums >> Private Messages

at the top instead of

Title of Forums >> My Profile

Craig Armstrong, in the file public_my_pm.pl find:

$vars_config{BBName} » $vars_wordlets{my_profile_header}

replace it with:

$vars_config{BBName} » $vars_wordlets{pm_header}

Also, if you want to change the header "PM" to "Private Message". To do that, go to vars_wordlets.cgi, and change:

pm_link => "PM",

to

pm_link => "Private Message",

Does submitting a user name open the PM editor in amykhar's hack? This looks like a great option to the PM fiasco and without looking at the code, I'm already visualizing a couple of easy sweeteners for this hack. I'm snaggin' it, 'cause it's way cool and makes farging sense. Good job my man! I don't suppose you have a link to amykhar's hack handy do you?

Hello!

I have a little problem, i have installed at my ubb the hack that is included as a category at the forum summary.

Now the problem:

When i go at the page (ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=my_pm) of the private messages i see that:



To sum up. This thing that you can send pm messages to other registered members it doesn't work

Can anyone help me? I know that i am doing something wrong, but what ?

(when i put a username it tells me: You are attempting to reach a page that does not exist. And the url that is trying to find is: ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=send_pms&username=stam)

To use the Send PM Submit button, you must have Amykhar's hack installed. The hack can be downloaded at:

Amykhar's hack goes in the public_my_pm.pl file. I have also seen some additions for e@sy's ViewPmInfo hack that add sound and graphics when notified. (Which work very well :D) This hack combined with e@sy's and Amykhar's makes a top shelf PM hack. Great job people!

NICE MOD!! it worked great on my ubb v6.04f ...but you must have charles hack, and amykhar's hack...

Would it be possible to put a drop down box in instead of the text box. One that has all the registered members on the forum?

is it possible for the category row to tell us if there are new PM's???

Ok, I've got a problem. Your hack, Amykhar's hack and Charles capps hacks are all installed. The problem is, when I send a PM, it says:
"Processing...

Thanks for updating your list.

Sit tight... We are taking you back to: Private Messages"

Shouldn't it say thanks for sending message or something like that? Anyways, I can't recieve them, so I don't know what's going on.

Any help would be much appreciated!
