Use Beyond Compare or a similar program to go through the changed files and upgrade them. smile

Here's the Beyond Compare .

What if they changed the part where a hack was applied?

Exactly. Borg is working on an auto-hack utility, and you may want to suggest that concern to him.

I advise upgrading UBB6 first, then rehacking. If you're simply updating a hack, but not UBB6, then the author of the hack should supply you with update information from the previous version.

In a perfect world, ubb hackers would create data files used by Borg's software which could handle both updates and new installs.

Hey Zedd smile

One thing that helps you rehack is if whenever you install a new hack you write down what files were changed in that hack. Then when you update your board, you look at your list of hacks, and what files they used, so you can know ahead of time what hacks will be broken by your upgrade, and what parts of the hack you have to redo.

Also, in some hacks they have comments saying that the code is part of the hack...for the hacks that don't you should put them in yourself. i.e.
#This code is for user status
That way when you use beyond compare, you know exactly what parts were added by your hacks, and what parts were added because of the upgrade.

Deb - thanx, downloaded the program and it looks like it will help greatly.

Lupus - Hey buddy what's up. I create a new directory for every hack I do and they are numbered, so I always know which one has the newest version for any hack I do. I like the idea about adding the comments to all of the hacks so I know what I added and what was added by the UBB people!
