Hiya,

I'm new here so please forgive me if I'm posting to the wrong spot.

I currently use the Discus-BB and I've been seriously considering moving to UBB because it looks much nicer.

The problem is that it took me quite a while to hack Discus-BB so that I could put up a recent active discussions window on my index.html page (like this site has on it's main page).

I've seen a few sites that use UBB that have done this (including this one) and I was wondering if this is a simple process or not?
Also, are there any tutorials or anything that describe how to do this?

Thank you for your help!

I want to know too. So far I've figured out you need SSI in order to do this. As soon as my server get's back online and I can get ahold of my webhost I'll try it out. I'm wondering if there's a nonSSI way to do it.

I am fairly certain that the hack you're talking about is called SlashUBB. It does require SSI, and to my knowledge there is no non-SSI alternative. The address for that hack is: https://www.ubbdev.com/db/Forum8/HTML/000012.html

Hope this helps.

oooooh! That's cool! I like that concept [Linked Image]

Notice on the demo link (https://ubbdev.com/index.shtm)it's got the "Latest Threads" box on the right...THAT'S what I'm talking about. Does this hack handle that too by chance?

Thanks again!

I don't know which part of the main page SlashUBB is covering... whether it's the actual posts, or the latest threads portion. I have never used the hack before, myself. If Allen comes in here, he'll be able to help you more.

The center column is flare's slashubb modification, notice the copyright at the bottom?

The latest threads in the right columns are SSI's of Dave Downin's active.cgi modification:
