Hiya,
I'm new here so please forgive me if I'm posting to the wrong spot.
I currently use the Discus-BB and I've been seriously considering moving to UBB because it looks much nicer.
The problem is that it took me quite a while to hack Discus-BB so that I could put up a recent active discussions window on my index.html page (like this site has on it's main page).
I've seen a few sites that use UBB that have done this (including this one) and I was wondering if this is a simple process or not? Also, are there any tutorials or anything that describe how to do this?
Thank you for your help!

I want to know too. So far I've figured out you need SSI in order to do this. As soon as my server get's back online and I can get ahold of my webhost I'll try it out. I'm wondering if there's a nonSSI way to do it.

I am fairly certain that the hack you're talking about is called SlashUBB. It does require SSI, and to my knowledge there is no non-SSI alternative. The address for that hack is: https://www.ubbdev.com/db/Forum8/HTML/000012.html Hope this helps. ---Skorpion ------------------ This just in: the New York Police have just apprehended the person who let the dogs out.

oooooh! That's cool! I like that concept Notice on the demo link ( https://ubbdev.com/index.shtm)it's got the "Latest Threads" box on the right...THAT'S what I'm talking about. Does this hack handle that too by chance? Thanks again! -Giamage

I don't know which part of the main page SlashUBB is covering... whether it's the actual posts, or the latest threads portion. I have never used the hack before, myself. If Allen comes in here, he'll be able to help you more. ---Skorpion ------------------ This just in: the New York Police have just apprehended the person who let the dogs out.

If anyone is interested...
I upgraded to UBB6 so active.cgi doesn't work for me anymore. But I found a way to display another file in your frontpage default.html/index.html for users of Netscape without using SSI.
Basically it's a layer and can be adjusted as so.

When can I expect 6.4? Do you think I should try and figure this out without content island right now, or wait for the 6.4 release?

There's a "Latest Threads" hack in one of the 6.3 forums, that should do what you're looking for.
