hi guys I have a serious problem here,

i had a ubb running on a root server 900 mhz with suse linux, the forum has about 11000 members and aprox. 200 always online, so far so good. everything was running well and fast.

now i sticked up to almost the same server on the same company with a 2000er celeron more memory and so on. supposed to be faster but now its 5 times slower frown

is there anyone who knows a bit about suse/apache config ? i tried every possible settings to the apache webserver but with no result frown

please help frown

ok I installed it but you think its a fault of the ubb-soft (6.4.1) and not of the server ?

on the old server ubb was running quite fast, now on the new faster server its running slower confused

Are you on a dedicated server? If not, you could just have gotten moved to a faster server, but with some resource hogs sharing it with you

A lot of that load is probably coming from Recent Visitors. Change its tracking value from 60 minutes down to 15 minutes - that will speed things up quite a bit.

Next, run a member search and prune users that registered more than three months ago and never posted, then prune users with under five posts that last posted more than three months ago. That will get rid of a few thousand members, which will also speed things up.

hey, thankyou for all this help, yes i guess i have a lot of inactive members there, at least 3-4 thousand, the problem ist, that you can only delete 50 at once, so i have to site quite a long time to delete all those members

but now i moved back to my old server and forum is running much more faster. both are dedicated with SuSe Linux but the smaller one is faster for the forum. very weird.... confused

we spent all weekend (me and another system admin) to configure the new one like the old one but nothing....

well, "never change a running system" as they say laugh
