I like taking the Acela when I need to go down to DC, and work is paying for it. Then I stretch out with all my computer stuff on one of those tables. Regular Amtrak train will do you just fine...unless of course your some kind of train freak and want to be able to tell all your friends that you rode the high speed train tipsy (of course there are very few areas where it even gets moving).

Thanks for the info... I used the discounts to ride the metroliner up there and the acela on the way back thumbsup

yes, not gonna like stepping on the scale at the gym tomorrow smash tho we walked so much I think we kept it mostly off. One thing we both noticed about NYC is that there are relatively very few overweight people. We figured it was all the walking it seems most do there... DC had more hefty people it seemed, quite a bit more, but not quite as much as here in Texas.

Representing overweight New Yorkers, you obviously did not ride on a crowded subway or bus tipsy

We rode the subway quite a bit the last couple days, I don't remember much overweight people smile

We ate at Carmines (twice) - some great chicken with mushrooms and marsala over angel hair pasta. Didn't really like the cheesecake tho, tasted more like custard than cheese. We ate at Carnegie Deli - great pastrami sandwich, tho the carrot cake some lady next to us insisted on sharing with us was a little dry. Both places served portions big enough for 2 people to share one order smile

We ate at the san gennaro feast - some great pizza, mozzareppa's and canoli. Plus we tried some street vendor's hotdogs on wall street, 56th and 5th (thos was late at night and some guy who billed himself as NYC's best Barry White impersonator had setup his own little concert - we ate the hotdog and sat and listened in front of the radio city music hall smile ). We had breakfast every morning at a place on 8th and 46th called 'rendevous on time square' - great little cafe run by possibly italian or hispanic brothers with excellent taste and very little money.

Our hotel in NYC was 1/2 block from time square, we really enjoyed the whole experience.

In philly we walked one afternoon to Geno's right before that Monday Night Football game between the eagles and the vikings, went through a lotta rough-looking neighborhoods to get there but it was worth it. Seemed like half of philly was there in their eagles jerseys heading to the game. smile They have some great restaurants and cafe's on market street as well. Loved the cheesesteak sandwich and cheesefries at geno's smile We walked back up 9th through the closing outdoor market and the fish smell was pretty strong eek

We found a few great places in DC just by wandering around and stopping to try them out. The corner bakery was good, as was the fish market by the water (great chowder, most fish was to be taken home to cook tho), Clyde\'s in Georgetown - the food was good, tho service a little slow, they were swamped on a sunday night. The georgetown bagelry had great pizza and breakfast bagels.

We got to go to the cowboys/redskins game Monday night - we drove over there and by the time the game started the scalpers were selling tickets at face value smile There weren't a whole lotta cowboy fans there, but we sure enjoyed the win laugh

Lol...at least it wasn't "Italian Cheesecake" which would have been all lumpy wink

Carmine's is a family-style place. A single order is meant to feed several people.

Carnegie is known for sandwichs that won't fit in your mouth.
