There's 7 fans in my case, including my power supply fan (5x 80mm + 92mm + PS fan (80mm?)). S-e-v-e-n. It sounds like a 747 taking off, so it's a good thing that I have my headphones on most of the time. smile

Here in Arizona, you need lots of fans in your case to blow all that whirling dust and sand out. laugh

I have 15 fans in my server, one in the PSU, two for each proc, one to suck the hot air off the proc fans and out the back, two for each hard drive, and one huge one in the front to pull cool air in. It's really not too bad as long as I keep the case screws and all the fan mount screws tight to keep it all from rattling. That loudest part is when the thing boots and it mounts all the drives up. eek

Tell you what though Steve, if I were going to build another I would put almost all of the fans on a thermostat. Half of them don't need to be running full time.

I can't hear it at all from my house though. wink

Want to here something really funny? Well you don't have a choice so you might as well be into it.

My sisters boyfriend (or atleast i think its him, i dunno... i heard it somewhere) knows a guy who took an old refridgerator and used that as a server tower. He put the whole Server system into the fridge except the screen keyboard and mouse and he set it on a cool temp. Nothing to cold so it freezes but just enough to stop it from over heating... I couldn't stop laughing but it is a good idea if you have an extra fridge around and you don't want to have all the noise of a 747 in the confort of your home. And think, if your ever doing any Manual work on the system and you want a nice cold beer all you have to do is slip a few in a few minutes befor you start.

(Most) electronics equipment works best at colder temperatures.
