IF YOU ALREADY DOWNLOADED YOUR FREEWARE VERSION AND HACKED IT, YOU ARE NOT IMPACTED BY THE NEW LICENSE. The new license ONLY IMPACTS NEW FREEWARE DOWNLOADS.

Just to say it again - if you have a hacked freeware now, you're fine, there's nothing you need to worry about.

IF someone has a hacked Freeware version, can they continue to hack it? Or do they stop from here on out?

(sounds simple, but I bet some are wondering)

Thanks Jeologic! I guess that clears up THAT question.

The thing is.. UBBDEV had to remove the mods from the database and freeware forums because there is no way for us to determine who has a new freeware download vs. the old.

Yup, Oh well I paid my 200.00

Vragor, UBBDEV plans on doing our best to honour Infopops request regarding the license agreement and hopefully the users will as well. As you may have noticed all but one of the freeware forums is back up, albeit cleaned out. The freeware database will be turned back on also but we must review some of the hacks first.

BTW, The Freeware Beta Mods threads are still intact and we will be checking the material in them ASAP. We appreciate any help users can give and encourage everyone to have a little patience while the necessary changes are made.

I just have a question on this, not that what I say will make a difference or not.

UBBDEV admins and mods seem to have good contact with InfoPop, so why don't you try to work out something inbetween?

Basically what I mean is this, ok there were/are probably many hacks for the freeware version that have code straight out of the full version, but there are also many that have fresh code by people learning programming that add function to the board without infringing on infopops copyrites.

So intellectually infopop is styming creativity of young minds that are building future skills for tomorrows web apps.

Many other software/hardware vendors have sucessfully handled these type of issues by sub-licencing in this case "infopop" approved addon's.

Infopop let's you submit your hacks and approves them for distrubution, you get a tick mark on your resume for having recognised authoring, infopop controls it's software modifications and copyrites.
