   my new web portal to Del.icio.us Add to del.icio.us
  Digg my new web portal Digg it
I finally put a decent home page & portal up in front of my forums:

http://dragboatalley.com

and I did tons & tons of stuff with custom rss/xml generation. Thus I compromised abit for KISS sake by keeping the portal pages mostly static html. I'm getting ready to update the ubb.c templates to integrate portal & forums by pulling the fancy mouseover tab menu thru my ubb.

And I was wondering if anybody had any other suggestions or feedback for me to make things any better? TIA!

I'm using Firefox 1.5.0.1 and it is severely broken. You probably want to check that out.

the whole main section is clear off to the right. The top renders correctly for me.

thankyou so much for the input sub zero! i prolly shoulda posted this topic in Forum Design & Integration forum (feel free to move this if need be)

i found a stray width setting shoved in an iframe style attribute in a weird way. any chance the portal home page looks better now in firefox?

http://www.dragboatalley.com

if not - could i bother you take a peak at these other 2 pages where i used a variation of same html template... tell me if these likewise suffer wide load mess?

Feeds:
http://www.dragboatalley.com/rss.htm

Spotlight:

thanks again!

drat, I'm getting IE-lazy in my old age! thanks again sub... i validated my html and found some offbalanced tags and couple other trivial things. tho i doubt that's all my problem is, but i'll fix these up and then go get me a firefox download.

good grief i was splitting my pants in firefox LOL! ish... it's somewhat better now

http://dragboatalley.com

but my fancy mouseover tab menu is now sidestepping abit to the right on me, and it should be flush left to match the way it looks in IE. Here's the CSS that's probably at fault:

Code:
.navcontainer ul li
{
list-style-type: none;
padding: 0;
margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px;
display: block;
float: left;
background: url("menuB.gif") top left no-repeat;
font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;
font-size: 8pt;
font-weight : bold;
text-align : center;
color : #663366;
line-height : 28px;
}

i tried tweaking the obvious things in the style class above to slide the tabs backover to the left, but no matter i mess with IE goes stupid and firefox dont left-ify anyway. anybody got any suggestions for me or see something dum i missed?

i can live with it this way, my community is mostly non computer literate. not likely any my members even know what is firefox is... but i'll know its there, and that's enough :rolleyes:

TIA again

i pulled my CSS tab menu throughtout my ubb templates & mod scripts now. looks all nicely integrated w/ portal pages. just wish i could figure out why firefox wont put my tabs flush over to the left.
