its pretty cool.. you give members a warning when they do something retarted and they get banned after like 5 or so warnings so that way they will behave.. i thought it was already made for UBB6 but i couldnt find it..
I have a hack I have written for 6 which is very similar.
It is not 100% yet, just gotta add in some easy maintainence routines and a cpl features that someone suggested to me.
I don't know if i will be able to release it publicly or not though, I first have to check with the people who had me write it in the first place. If they give the OK, I'll post it.
If they say no, im sorry if im letting anyone down, but i figured i would let you know that its in the works and may possibly be on your plate for dinner.
Tech-Ni-Kal, they have a say because they had me write it. Yes it is my hack, but if they want to have it as a feature for just their board I respect that. If you asked me to write something just for your board, and not for public release I would respect your wishes as well.
Anyway, the hack is 100% done and so far is bug free. I didn't include any wordlets for it because this was not originally for public release. I have to dbl check the documentation and then reinstall on a clean board.
I'm sure it will be. And when you release the hack, I'd be glad to help out with a version 2 if you want to make one. I got great ideas to improve the karma hack from UBB5 and know how to draft them over.
I will know by tomorrow around 9am whether or now I will be able to release it.
Like I said though, its not the karma hack by leshrac, i didnt port anything over. Its just a hack that is similar to karma. Instead of writing out all the features right now though, just wait till 9am tomorrow and it will all be here if i get the ok.

btw ruph, my hack may not have the features you need... it doesnt have auto banning, as that is not an issue on the board it was written for. It's just used for keeping track of one aspect of a member's contribution and banning will be decided on an idividual basis.
I could code it in fairly easy though, but as of yet there is no need.
There are quite a few other differences between mine and the karma hack, many of which I personally find make mine more convenient but if/when I release it tomorrow, I'm more than open for feedback on what to add / change.
I'm actually not wanting it to auto ban people like it did on version 5. Powerhungry moderators could easily negative karma members until they are banned. You should leave that feature out and just have it as an aspect of who admins should mainly watch out for.
I'm not going to release it. If I do I will lose all future work at the site that originally had me write it and that is my only supplemental income. I was told if I release it, then it will be the last project they give me. Sorry about that but its not worth it to me to lose out on a paycheck to make you happy.
Porting over leshrac's hack would be really easy. If no one else does it, I will do it for you but I've already got all my free time tied up working on my next project.
Main problem was that the karma pages resolved in errors...
<edit> We now have a new idea for the karma hack. This one, however, will replace the ranks system already on the UBB. We just need to allow moderators and admins to give them out and add a couple more features.:)

i "think" Section is a big fat liar! prolly why he doesnt want to release it is because he has nothing to release... can we see a demo of the hack somewhere? i cant understand why he doesnt want to release it.. its just a hack i dont think your boss or whatever should make that much of a biggie out of it... not like your pirating warez or something like that blah!

get a life ruph. i have seen sections hack in action and its a lot better than you can imagine. i myself have done a lot of custom work for sites, and i dont release this work unless the site is ok with it. i fully support him not releasing it, expecially if his boss doesnt want him to. you think you have some innate right to something he spent 50+ hours developing and coding?? what kind of crap is that? thats riduculous. you want a hack so badly go write it yourself, dont make an ass of yourself to the people who can make hacks like this and then think they should give it to you because you want it.

I work 9 hrs a day in addition to programming so time is limited and programming is my only source of supplemental income. Jordo and I have worked side-by-side on projects in the past with many more than satisfied clients. I dont have to prove myself to you or anyone else here for that matter, i just try to help out. I had no need to port over the karma hack other than to help people like you. My latest project is done and that was next on my list of things to do but now if you want the karma hack, go out to barnes and noble and buy a book because i sure as hell am not going to waste my time working on it for someone such as yourself. You are the perfect reason for someone to keep their hard work to themselves.

It'd be great if you released this hack Section, I could really use it. But if you decide not to do it, it's ight I would understand fully seeing how you had to deal with that crap from ruph. But like I said before, it'd be great to see this released in the beta forum
