Lately we've started to notice cookies screwing up (i.e., not working) all over the site... For our news script, but most importantly, on our UBB (5.45).

I've actually tracked the issue step by step through the cookie creation process. I've first deleted all cookies. In the meanwhile, I posted something to log me in. Then I went back to preferences and set my cookies to remember my pass. Then I create a cookie, and voila, it does create a perfectly fine cookie with info about which topics I visited last etc., and my username and pass.

HOWEVER, as soon as I'm off the site for a while, let's say that I reboot, the next time I visit the site, my auto-login does not work. The boards will still show which topics are new since my last visit, but that's it. My username and pass are not entered auto. And as soon as I saw that, I went to check the same cookie that had my username and pass stored before. Guess what? Now it doesn't have them in anymore, only info about the last topics and so on.

I've since tried resetting, deleting cookies, and everything else imaginable over 10 times, but the same thing happens every time I hit the boards anew - the username and pass info are wiped from the cookie for some reason. This is happening to many other users on the boards too, but not all of them.

Frankly, I haven't a clue what could be causing this. It's worked fine for 2 years, and now all of a sudden it's all screwed up. I don't even think I've installed any new mods or anything at the time this started happening. Really, I'm out of ideas what could be causing this... An IE browser bug? Server screwing up? UBB? I'm clueless.

If anyone could help me out here I'd appreciate it.

This happened to me also, took me a long time to work out what was causing it. For me I noticed it only occured for IE 6 users. There is a new option in it that blocks certain cookies, goto TOOLS -> Internet Options -> Privacy Tab,
change the slider to the bottom to accept all cookies and hopefully that should fix your problem!

I've already done that in IE...

Actually, I think I found the cause... I've added some pop-up code which is on a cookie so that a popup appears only every so many hours, and this was obviously screwing the rest of the boards up... Since I had the popup code in the header it loaded before all other cookies, and messed it up (I presume).

I removed the popup code from the header of all forums and now it seems to work... We'll see if it lasts.
