forumdisplay.cgi will tell people that the requirement for the flaming folder icon to display is actually one reply more than when the folder actually displays.

For example, I have my Flaming topic folder icon set in General Preferences for a minimum of 6 replies. On the bottom of the forum pages it reads as follows:

Contains new posts since the last time you logged on ( "flaming icon" More than 6 replies) .
No new posts since the last time you logged on ( "flaming icon" More than 6 replies).

This hack will correct the display to say:

Contains new posts since the last time you logged on ( "flaming icon" 6 replies or more) .
No new posts since the last time you logged on ( "flaming icon" 6 replies or more).

Find

$RedHot = " (<img src="$NonCGIURL/hotclosedb.gif" border=0 alt="Hot Topic">  More than $HotCount replies)";
$YellowHot = "(<img src="$NonCGIURL/hotclosed.gif" border=0 alt="Hot Topic">  More than $HotCount replies)";


Replace the above code with:


$RedHot = " (<img src="$NonCGIURL/hotclosedb.gif" border=0 alt="Hot Topic">  $HotCount replies or more)";
$YellowHot = "(<img src="$NonCGIURL/hotclosed.gif" border=0 alt="Hot Topic">  $HotCount replies or more)";

That's it, you are patched. Woohoo, my first credited hack.

I made Info-pop aware of the problem several versions ago, it appears to be corrected differently in version 5.44 using the "More than XX replies". I'm using version 5.42, check your version before hacking, it may be fixed. This is an easy way to fix if your version is not patched. Post about the bug on the Info-Pop Board
