Auto-updating smilies --> Andy Tomaka to Del.icio.us Add to del.icio.us
Digg Auto-updating smilies --> Andy Tomaka Digg it
Hoi there -

I've just been musing over Andy Tomaka's (sorry about the spelling...) auto-updating smilies legend and I've gained myself a nice headache over it... For some interesting reason it does not seem to obbey the site's colour scheme (as it should according to the code).

The problem lies somewhere in the SmiliesLegend routine where it creates the html:

Code:
code:

As you can see above, it calls the colour variables from the styles.file, but for some weird reason the popup is in fact a simple white *blorp* with black text and no different colours for each row in the table?

Reading the routine does suggest that it's meant to look stylish like the board, but it doesn't....

Of course ... I could be wrong, I'm not a genius. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Add the followng line to the top of smilies.cgi (with the similar lines):

require "Styles.file";

It was a mistake in the hack.

That WORKED!!! Wheeee!

One slight error still, that was easy though:

Code:
code:

Should be changed to:

Code:
code:

(Change the $TableStripTextColor to $TextColor) this ensures that on sites where these colours are different (like mine), the right colour is used in the rows.

Thanks for the help! Perhaps Mr. Tomaka could update his documentation, if he is still breathing that is?

Mas*Mind has just updated his smilies.cgi file with the requires clause. You'll have to get Tomaka to change the color thing though.

heheh

Thanks! I'll be sure to badger you about every little gripe I have

I've gotta install 5.44 tonight, they work too fast at InfoPop, I wasn't even done hacking 5.43d up to standards.

Zoooooof -- off to work I go. Thanks for the help
