i know the feature to allow image tags in the signature is there by default, but i'd really like to gain some control over it.

perhaps a system set up similar to avatar images?

that way, you could control the file size and physical dimensions of all images used. additionally, you could allow external URLs for images, provide stock banners, or force users to upload the images to your boards' server.

my board users love placing images in their signatures, but man, do they abuse the priviledge. i've constantly had to monitor the image size... its awful.

honestly, if there were a quick and easy way to simply duplicate the entire avatar process for use in signatures, i think that would be the perfect solution.

the avatar setup already gives admins the ability to limit file size and dimensions of the image -- as well as logically just being a single image (instead of users plopping in 5-20)

controlling the actual image location would be nice, as well. if all of the sig images on my bards came from my server, we wouldn't have to wait 5 hours to download all the various photobucket accounts

and plus... its already set up!!

all one would have to do is figure out a way to call in a second "avatar" for the signature area, and its done.

i've implemented a 2 sig size rule / mod.

400x50
300x100

this doesn't limit to only 2 sig sizes though. users can have

300x(100 or less)

or 400x(50 or less)

essentially.

we also limit the size (kb) of the images too.

i seem to recall that it was a perty minor mod to editbasic, but not sure off top of my head.
