Anyone want to take a stab at a new main top logo for our forums?

It would be most appreciated, we need a facelift in the graphics department.

We'll most certainly give you credit.

i prefer non-moving logos myself, but hey, it's a personal thing. maybe alien soup moves more than i thought.

I met one of you today in my chatroom (squage) and discussed details with you, so I'll direct this reply to you other folks.

Pyros: Weekend is fine, take your time. I'm entertaining a few new designs over the next week or two and I'll pick my favorites from the list. I've also been in touch with you in regards to other work recently, and you've responded promptly (or was it someone else who works with you?), so I'll follow up on that letter later today once I'm back home!

DJ INDEGO: Hey, that's pretty nifty. Only problem I'd have with that one is the filesize is way too large for use as a header graphic to appear on every page.

Any other suggestions?

Again, thanks for the response one and all, I'll be sure to compensate the winners once they're selected!

the weekend will prove to be my testing ground for my newest creations. to CE: sorry, i no longer do free work. it proved to be too, uhm, FREE.

there are exceptions. i'll do a free graphic here and there for big sites that have lots of traffic and who will link me

i need a ubb forums logo. and seeing as there were 3 people very good at graphics posting on the board i'd figure i'd asked...i mean if you want paid, we can talk about it, i just dont have the money to be spending $50 for every graphic made.

squage, you probly wouldn't want to do a graphic for me, my site doesn't get alot of hits, at least not at the moment

Anways, just to give me an idea, what exactly are you looking for in your graphics? Straight font, bendy font, wavy font. Bright, dull, green, purple, etc?
Like what would you like preferable.

I'm crappy at graphics, so it's difficult for me to say. I'll look over anything anyone is bored enough to make.

I'm giving creative freedom on them.

Best I can recommend is something with green or grey shades in color perhaps, with a ufo or alien in it preferably. All it has to say is "Alien Soup", or "Alien Soup Forums".

No larger than 60 pixels in height, width I am flexible on. Must blend into the background as well.

Alein, if you wanted to make an animated GIF, I'm probably not the guy to do that for you, I'm better at making stationary graphics instead....

Static is perfectly fine, animation is not a requirement.

In fact, generally animated logos tend to be quite large and not very pleasing to those with dial-up net access.

Several logos posted here were excellent, but unfortunately they would be too slow and might be a tad annoying. One was 60k in filesize, another was 28k, that's much too much for the top of all our pages!

I do like the "Alien" movie graphics, however that would confuse those that might see it that we are related to the movie in some way!

I really do appreciate the work you've done though, you do a very clean job.

Actually do you want just a logo, or a sign with your logo? A logo is usually used on letterhead, biz cards, stationary, etc.. It should be one that would become synonimous with your company.

Well, after a brief, unprofitable, and horribly embarassing stint at actually trying to make money off of graphics, I suppose I will go back to my "information is free" roots. That, and I just had to give this logo a try, since I had such a good idea for it.

Looks like you've already found one you like, but I decided i'd try anyway, just to show you what I could do. I had to alter the height dimensions a little, but it's still workable, I hope. Easy and simple, I know; and it uses pretty much just different variations on the same stuff i used in my own sig (and while I don't usually like to repeat effects, this one still looked good anyway). Anyway, tell me what you think.

EDIT: Whoops, let's actually make some *real* UBB code, and not make stuff up from scratch...

Hey that's definatly a smooth one.

I haven't selected any 'final' graphics by any means, just playing around with new ideas while the new site is under construction. The forums will be but a part of the overall site.

I shouldn't say that I'm happy you haven't found the degree of paid work you're looking for but hell "I'm happy you haven't found the degree of paid work you're looking for".

Many graphics here are going to probably get used in one way or another, we'll have a section on our new site dedicated to various link banners/logos that people can use to link to us, etc. Anything you submit is sure to be a part of it, with proper credit given.
