I installed Powerquest PartitionMagic and BootMagic because I am planning to install Linux as a second OS (I currently am running Windows XP).

I made a primary partition (FAT32 for BootMagic) that was 100MB. Afterwards, the computer booted up and BootMagic started and I could only pick Windows XP.

After making my partitions for Linux (on a logical partition), when I tried to add Linux to my BootMagic configurator, the computer could no longer find the program or partition. I'm not sure what the real problem was. So since then I have thrown out (deleted) the partition w/ BootMagic.

Now when I start the computer I get this message:
Verifying DMI Pool Data..............
Boot from ATAPI CD-ROM:
.|||....|
Error finding BTMAGIC.IMG
Run BootMagic install
Press any key to boot active partition

Obviously by pressing a key Windows XP boots up, but I don't like having to do so. Why is this happening? Can anyone tell me what I've done and what I can do to fix this I need help

Partition magic will let you make a seperate partition for linux, but you don't really need the bootmagic. When you install linux, it will install a bootloader for you. Either lilo or grub, depending on your choice during install and linux version.

o.k you must reinstall the btmagic on yr active partition then seek through your configuration screen then delete the linux o/s. then remove your bootmagic from control panel.
o.k if this does not remove the message u must activate yr regedit option. but i reconmend,if you don't know yr way around, back it up. as this could make yr system unbootable
run regedit then go to edit then find,type in bootmagic then enter 36da838bcodfc2841b42176147b8ca54,make sure it's btmagic then delete it. once this is done restart the computer, see if the message appears. if the message still appears u must carry out the process again and remove the other subkeys
