It would be pretty cool if users could refer new users and you could keep track of who has the most referrals on the site. Like this:

I'll second that, it looks like a great way to generate traffic.

Interesting idea...
I would represent the referals graphically, maybe a changing icon depending on the amount of referals... something like the usertitle, but for referals.

Referals are a standard in VB They use the HTTP_REFERER I beleive and assign each member a unique code. New member's then input this code when they register and things are tracked this way. I have seen several contests on VB sites ran this way. That way EXISTING members can not cheat. It is a neat feature indeed.

Actually,

I am paying Gardner to make one this weekend, so it is in progress I guess, but it is quite a bit more in depth than just referrals.

It will give points to users as follows:

10 pts for a referral
5 pts for a review/photo
1 pt for a post/reply

At least, I think that's how I told him

Points will be displayed on a page in order of top point holders, as well as number of points being displayed under each user's username.

So if the person they refer posts a pic and joins in they get points? Or is it if anyone posts photos or reviews? I'm fixing to start giving away prizes on my site for referrals so something like this would be cool....
