.htaccess question to Del.icio.us Add to del.icio.us
  Digg .htaccess question Digg it
We have two sections of our website. The public side and the members side. The public side is all in http:// The private side is all in https:// This is where our board is. We have this side password protected. This was how we needed to do it with our old host using plesk. Our new host uses c-panel. They installed the SSL certificate for me. Now any part of the site can be access using http:// or https:// The password box comes up for any area that requires it but when using http:// the lock indicating a secure site doesn't appear. My host said that I could configure .htaccess to keep people from accessing the secure area via http:// I haven't been able to find anything documenting how to utilize this functionality. Or that it even exists.<br /><br />I hope this is clear. Thanks for any info.<br /><br />Jeff

Does your c-panel page have a Web Protect function?

Not that I see. Would it be under something else? I am on cpanel version 7.0.0-EDGE. Build 5. Cpanel theme - cPanel X v1.7.

What I meant was, would it be a sub of something in C Panel.

I'd have to see it to answer that. If your web host can't give you more specific instructions, you could ask at cpanel.net.<br /><br />You could also set up the .htaccess file manually.

I don't think within cpanel itself is going to be a specific function to do what you're trying to do. They do have the ability to just password protect folders. But probably doing something more complex will just require editing .htaccess manually like Dave said.
