Some thoughts because I like to create another template-set, but let the users decide to keep the old one.

As far as I know the current version of ubbt has got one fixed template set "default". I can change this by editing the variable to point to another template-folder.
Is it planned to let the users decide the template, as with the stylesheets today? Together with the template we should be able to switch to a complete different image- and stylesheet-folder.

But I prefer not to have a folder structure like:
/templates/t1/
/templates/t1/images/
/templates/t1/stylesheets/
/templates/t2/
/templates/t2/images/
/templates/t2/stylesheets/
[...]

Instead there should be a way to let me combine different templates / stylesheets / images to one set of (let's call it) "layout". The creation of such layouts should be an admin option to prevent unsuitable combinations.

Any opinions? What's planned for the future releases of ubbt?

JustDave has written a hack that allows users (or admins/mods) to switch to a different template set. The stylesheets and images haven't been worked into it yet.

I think the way Dave's hack works is instead of this /templates/default a dropdown switches the user to /templates/newtemplate etc....

I *think* I had read long ago that the ability to have different template sets would be possible (this was back when 6 was coming out). Haven't heard anything recently. <shrug>

'theme' sets would be nice - a combo of templates/stylesheets/images

Rick would be best for saying what's coming down the road

User selectable templates is something that is planned on, but the whole implementation of it hasn't really been thought out yet. Definitely don't want to end up with images and stylesheets under the templates directory because many times you'd just have duplicate templates and images and it would be extremely hard to manage.

It's not on the immediate todo list but any ideas or conversation on a good way to accomplish this and would be easy to administrate would be great. That way I won't end up going down the wrong path when it is time to get this in.
