Here's what I did... downloaded ubb.classic-skins mod.

I only modified the dosearch.php part of the instructions
and then I modified the dosearch.tmpl
i also uploaded the english language file

to accomodate the ubb.threads look but include a snipit of body
to each thread.

attached is the modified template...

here is my link...

It is working somewhat. But I thought the changes to the the dosearch.php would collapse the threads and only show the most recient thread. (Like UBB.Classic) Right now it will show all threads with the snipit of text.

Now some of my patrons like the old method.
How do I create another link on my site to either
show the old method (Before any mods) and the new method
for Standard searching, 24hours, 48hours, and 7Days.

Would I have to Duplicate the dosearch.php and the template
rename them and then modify their references to each other?

Any help would be great.

Ok I have created a dosearch2.php and dosearch2.tmpl which are identical to the originals except I modified the references to each other.

IT works for the 24hrs, 48hrs, and 7days. as all I need to do is make sure the call is to dosearch2.php it will display as if it were normal.

But it doesn't work in regular search mode. aarg....

Please see this thread for the changes that Scream gave me for the search results page. It may be closer to what you are looking for. Look toward the bottom of the thread for an attachment that has complete instructions.

In addition to strip out code and polls and the like how do I prevent the width of this section from destroying the view how can I make the text wrap instead of going wider in the forum?

When someone posts a link or includes an image or url the long code makes the table very wide instead of wrapping.

Ok i've had to reduce the number of characters to 100 so for the most part it looks better.
