Sometime we, moderator/admin, encounter situation when there are 2 or more threads with similar content, and sometime I wish that I could merge those threads.

This is just a suggestion

We discussed this once... and MTO had a great idea as to how it could easily be done (I think).

MTO Said:
[]Moving a post and all of its replies is already available. The only thing is that you cant move it to another thread. The post (and replies) you move will be the start of a new thread. Attaching to another thread would be a nice feature, I think it could be done by having an option to "attach to post ID: [#######]".

Don't know how complicated that would be to do... or if it's on Rick's radar for a future version.

But I've moved "this post and all replies" and had replies moved that really shouldn't have been, because people sometimes reply to the thread and not the post. It would be nice to be able to move stuff back around. You could probably do it with a database command, but I'm not that handy in MySQL.

Just guessing here, but wouldn't it be possible to set B_Parent of the first post in the thread to be moved to the ID of the thread it should be attached to. Also, B_Main should be set to the same ID of all posts in the thread. And if it is moved to another board, B_Board should also be updated of course.

I haven't checked any code so I'm not sure at all if this is how it should be done, but it might work. <disclaimer> Don't try this if you don't know what you do, and ALWAYS make a backup of the database. </disclaimer>
