Hello Everyone!

If I delete a message, I would like it to DISAPPEAR, not be left with a little marker that says DELETED by admin. To me, that just elevates the profanity the poster posted to a press freedom issue: I don't think that a doofus who wants to say Hey %#&@!!! and &#&!!! should get protected. This is a family show!! ANyhow, currently, there seems to be no way to NOT have the little deleted left behind. BUT...is there anyway I could go into the database and just surgically remove it, so it WOULD disappear, but the other nice threads would not be affected? If I just deleted ALL reference to it in the database, would that mess up the threading? If so, please can you guys apply the collective mind on a way to eliminate the DELETED BY, so that it disappears completely? Can it be done?

Thanks so much!!

Mary

I only came across that feature today.

It only happens if the post has "children".

I guess the reason for it is that if the post were deleted completely, there's nowhere to put the children.

An admin or moderator can delete or move the entire branch of which that post is the parent. Alternatively, the post could be edited, and the "DELETED" label removed.

editing the deleted out of the post doesn't make it go away.. and each time you click on delete, it adds another *deleted* If there are children to that post, I do not know how to make it go away... removing it in phpmyadmin probably makes the children not show up anymore. You might consider moving the branch first, then deleting the post - which all of that is probably what dave already said

moving to "requests"
